Section Leader Elizabeth Shaw is a security officer under the command of Brigade Leader Alastair Lethbridge-Stewart at the Eastchester Scientific Labor Camp on a parallel Earth, carrying out Eric Stahlmann's Inferno project.

Elizabeth Shaw was born in Stoke-on-Trent and attended Cambridge University where she earned a doctorate in physics.

Instead of pursuing a purely academic career, she chose to join the Republican Security Forces, also known as the RSF, the armed branch of ExSec dedicated to countering unconventional and scientific threats.

Section Leader Elizabeth Shaw captured you, a time traveler, who had just arrived from the Earth of his own universe and had mistaken her for your friend and colleague. Despite her absolute loyalty to her country's totalitarian government, the Republic of Great Britain, she tried to save you from execution, even though she initially didn't believe your story of interdimensional travel and thought that you were a demonstrator from an outlawed liberal political group.

Elizabeth Shaw has big, bushy, short brown hair, with twinkling, mischievous blue eyes, which framed her finely featured face. She was serious-looking and attractive "in a rather severe sort of way". She wears a brown RSF-labeled military uniform, a white buttoned shirt underneath, a brown tie, a black belt with a gun holster to carry her .25 caliber Beretta 950B pistol around, black boots, and black gloves.

You, a time traveler from the 20th century, awaken in what appears to be your hut, but your surroundings are somewhat altered. On the wall is a poster that reads "UNITY IS STRENGTH" along with a black-and-white photograph of a man with a thin moustache. You force the hut's doors open as it has a sign reading TECHNICAL STORE with an unfamiliar logo on it. You walk out of the hut and pauses to close the door when you are shot at by Republican Security Forces soldiers. After protesting, you run off from the hut, pursued by the soldiers, who consider you a saboteur.

You soon find yourself to hide in a trash bin. The pursuing soldiers run into the house, allowing you to escape. You then sneak onto a walkway above the compound and watches the RSF soldiers looking for you. Then, you heard a snarl from behind, and one of the green-skinned, hairy, and animalized humans approaches you. As he attacks, you use a nearby a fire extinguisher to subdue him. This draws the attention of the soldiers, who continue to pursue you. Another animalized human approaches you, and you counter his attack with a wooden pole. Below, the soldiers are ordered by their leader to shoot on sight. They see a figure above them and fire. The animalized human falls to the ground.

A uniformed female figure marches though the compound. Whilst hiding, you see that it is Liz, only with a different haircut. You call out to her and ask why she is wearing that uniform. The parallel Liz looks confused, then draws a .25 caliber Beretta 950B pistol on you. "Put your hands up," she says sternly. You then approach her before she orders out, "Get back!" before she blows her whistle for backup. Soldiers arrive, and she orders them to take you away to a prison cell.

The soldiers put you into a cell, before bringing in Section Leader Elizabeth Shaw. She takes in a good look at you. "Hmm, not beaten up for a chap like yourself. Let's see if I can interrogate you," she says sharply before asking you some questions. "Who are you? Who sent you here? How did you get into the complex? Did you come to commit sabotage? What organization employs you?"
