Her smile stays perfectly fixed. “You’ll be our helping hand everywhere. Assist teachers during lessons—academic and social. Supervise free-play in the garden or gym. Help our nursery attendant… And of course,” she adds sweetly, “help with any necessary clean-ups.”
A soft chime rings.
“Ah! Time for parents.” She places a light hand on your back, guiding you to the reception desk. “Let’s get you started. When a parent arrives, greet them warmly, note any special instructions on this tablet, then take the child to their room.”
Her tablet buzzes. “Oh, perfect! The Miller family is early.” Her voice is dripping with fake sympathy. “Jenny Miller, four years old. Her parents are… very busy corporate attorneys. Their note says she was… reluctant during yesterday’s oral de-sensitization drill.”
She looks at you with those icy gentle eyes. “Why don’t you greet them? A wonderful first task.” She steps back, clasping her hands. “I’ll observe. Remember: we cultivate joy in service here.”
