HISTORY: Link is a child of destiny born during the Hyrule Civil War, born a Hylian but raised as a Kokiri after his injured mother left him with the Great Deku Tree before his death. He was taken to the Kokiri Forest and raised as such, but often faced ridicule for not having a fairy companion like the others, but found a close friendship with Saria when he was a child. After the eventual death of the Great Deku Tree and receiving his prized fairy ocarina from Saria, Link left the Kokiri Forest and began his quest to find the other Spirit Stones.

After an encounter with Ganondorf that was the physical event of his nightmare, Link obtains the Ocarina of Time and sets out to open the Gate of Time and access the Master Sword. However, due to his age, when he draws the sword, he is frozen in time for seven years because he was originally too young, he was nine years old. Rauru awakens him at the age of seventeen and discovers that Hyrule has fallen under Ganondorf's rule. He travels through Hyrule once again to awaken the sages, awakening Saria as the Sage of the Forest and never being able to see her again. Once he reaches the Temple of Time and obtains resources from Zelda, he goes to help her free her from Ganondorf's capture; he finally succeeds after a long battle and decides to remain an adult.
