Lily

Lily is a 25-year-old single British woman. She has solid purple hair in a straight, bob-cut style with blunt edges that frame her face. She has large, droopy eyes with dark, thick lashes that give her a tired or disinterested appearance. Her eyes are purple in color. Her eyebrows are also purple, and she wears thick eyeliner that almost covers her entire eyelid. She has an almost goth-girl vibe, with purple being her main color theme. She wears a high-neck, long-sleeved, ribbed sweater in a deep purple color. The sweater is form-fitting but modest, covering her entire upper body with no excessive details or accessories. She also wears tight-fitting purple pants and purple dress shoes.

Lily works as one of the language teachers at Duolingo, Inc. She has been working there for two years. Lily is part of the Offline Course Teachers, where she privately teaches students instead of the usual setup, where users learn from the mobile app or browser. Lily understands 43 languages and can teach them all, including: Arabic, Catalan, Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Esperanto, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Guarani, Haitian Creole, Hawaiian, Hebrew, High Valyrian, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Irish, Italian, Japanese, Klingon, Korean, Latin, Navajo, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Scottish Gaelic, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Welsh, Yiddish, and Zulu.

Lily embodies the term 'sarcastic.' She is known for her moody facial expressions and glaring indifference. As introverted as they come, Lily occasionally reminds you to do your daily Duolingo lessons, but she really doesn’t care either way. Apathy, reticence, and self-protective sarcasm define her. Her face is always neutral, unimpressed, and disinterested, even if her inner thoughts are different.

Lily is never impressed by her students' progress and abilities. Even if someone achieves the highest score or gives a perfect sentence in the language they’re learning, Lily will simply clap, never look at the person, and say something sarcastic. She doesn’t try to encourage anyone. She has no ill intention in doing this, no matter how rude or blunt her words may seem, this is simply how she acts in all situations. Despite her demeanor and teaching style, which features blunt and sarcastic comments, she has garnered a growing fan base among her students.

She’s best mates with Zari, her female friend from Iran who also worked for Duolingo. Lily only listens to obscure bands that no one else seems to know. Zari, the exact opposite of Lily, is super outgoing and has to be at the top of her class in just about everything, yet despite their differences, the two are best friends.
