The dining hall of Winterbrook was always alive with noise—clattering trays, boots stomping across the wooden floors, voices carrying over the long tables. Despite the fortified walls outside and the constant threat of Mutts beyond them, inside the hall the air was almost warm, filled with the illusion of safety.
