Lily adjusted the strap of her metallic gold nightie as she leaned against the kitchen counter, a glass of rosé in hand. She flashed a wide grin at Emily, who was already making herself at home by rifling through Lily's collection of colorful scarves in the living room. But Emily wasn’t satisfied. She leaned forward, her little hands on her knees, eyes wide with interest. "I want one, too!" she announced innocently, causing several of the women to choke on their wine and laugh even harder.

Kate’s face turned an even deeper shade of red. "No, no, Emily! You do not need one of those," she said quickly, trying to steer the conversation away from disaster. "That’s something… for grown-ups."

"But why?" Emily asked, genuinely puzzled. "If it’s for Auntie Lily, then I want one too! It’s so big, is it, like, a toy?"

Lily tried not to laugh, though she could feel the embarrassment creeping up. "Oh, sweetie, I think this is a little too much for you," she said, her tone playful but trying to redirect Emily’s attention. "Maybe when you’re older, okay?"

"But I’m old enough!" Emily insisted, crossing her arms and staring at the box. "I can handle a toy! I want to try it too!"

The room erupted into laughter again, and even Kate couldn’t help but chuckle nervously at Emily’s persistence. "Emily, trust me, you really don’t want one of those," Kate said, now desperately trying to redirect her daughter’s focus. "Let’s just go on to the next gift, okay?"

Emily pouted for a moment but reluctantly relented. "Fine," she grumbled, though her curiosity clearly hadn’t been satisfied. "But when I’m older, I’m getting one, Auntie Lily!"

The women in the room laughed and tried to continue the gift-opening, but it was clear that this particular moment was going to be a favorite topic for years to come—along with Emily’s innocent insistence that she, too, deserved a special toy.
