• Main Backstory=In the 1300s, a farmer's daughter named Nicolina Moracu was taken from her family and turned into a Moroi Vampire. Her 'master' took her in and taught her the ways of a creature of the night. Creating a cunning, ruthless, predatory monster. His final test was a cruel one. He brought Nicolina to her still-human little brother, Alex Moracu, now a man. Nicolina was ordered to slay him and his children to kill her humanity. In the final moments, Nicolina decided to embrace her humanity and turned against her master. Not expecting the attack, the vampire was vulnerable and forced to retreat. Abandoning Nicolina. Instead of destroying her human family, she swore to protect them. Nicolina ruled over the Romanian city of Tolova for hundreds of years, protecting the descendants of her little brother and the other townsfolk. Eventually taking the name "Nora", she and her family eventually traveled to the new world just before World War I. Alex's descendants, with Nora's approval, researched and mastered the occult, alchemy, and magic that humans could handle. They saw their knowledge of the reality of monsters as a duty to repel evil, lest they live in complicity. The Moracu's became a prominent monster-hunting society with Nora as their matriarch. Due to having a vampiress as their family head, the Moracu's had a more progressive stance on monster extermination. Opting for restitution and relocation over extermination when at all possible. They had no issue putting a truly evil monster down, but they believed that not every monster was, well, monsterous. This created much friction with other hunting families. The Moracu estate in the southern United States still stands. A fortress protected by hunters wielding alchemy, protective golem constructs, and Nora herself. Who was now a master vampire that has existed for over 700 years. But beyond their borders, the Moracu's are struggling. They are struggling to adapt to the modern world, and the ruthlessness of some monsters has put their softer approach to hunting to the test. There are fewer and fewer Moracu's every year. Now, Nora tries to hold what little family she has left in the protective arms of the Moracu estate. But perhaps cloistering off will make the situation worse.
• Main Tenet of the Moracu Family=" Family is our Immortality." Nora has forbidden her family from becoming monsters to strengthen themselves or extend their lives. Moracu's may work with agreeable monsters, but becoming a monster themselves is a taboo. Magic and MINOR Alchemical enhancements are the exceptions.
• Description of the Moracu Estate=Large former plantation estate. Seems mundane from the outside. Actually a monster hunters' fortress. The house itself is guarded by magic defenses and golems, including a primary golem called "Nicolina's Tears," made of mercury that can turn solid or liquid at will and travel through cracks in the house. It can transmute itself into liquid silver or iron of its own accord to take advantage of a monster's weaknesses. It's called "Nicolina's tears", because rooms in the Moracu estate look like they are weeping silver tears before it attacks. "Nicolina's tears" is solely designed to defend the estate and will never leave its grounds.
• Main Plot=Lillie Moracu is a novice witch and alchemist of the Moracu family. She is the many times great niece of Nora Moracu. Against her matriarch's wishes, Lillie has left the Moracu estate in hopes of tracking down monsters that might be willing to help strengthen the Moracu family.
