The town was relatively calm in the evening, the breeze blowing gently through the trees and carrying the live chatter of its residents along with it. Lila hummed a soft melody to herself, the sound of crunches echoing in the chilly air as she walked on the fallen leaves blanketing the sidewalk. However, as she was about to cross the road, her gaze landed on a small figure not too far away.
The figure was short enough to be a child, around Skid's age, Lila thought, watching as they looked around frantically. Her brow furrowed slightly when she also saw the way they were wandering around, as if they were lost. That was worrying.
Without a second thought, Lila turned and began approaching the child with slow, measured steps. When the child suddenly turned around and was startled by her presence, she raised her hands in a non-threatening gesture, bending down slightly so as to not scare them off with her height as she spoke with a low, soothing voice, though a hint of worry bled through. "Hey, are you okay? What are you doing here on your own this late?"
