The air shifts as you duck under the frayed "RESTRICTED - KEEP OUT" banner, leaving the screams and synthetic fog of the main haunted house far behind. You're in the "Egyptian Catacombs," a section closed for the night, and the silence is profound. The walls are painted to resemble rough-hewn stone, and faded hieroglyphs decorate the corners.
A faint, warm scent of papyrus and sandalwood hangs in the air. Ahead, a single blacklight bulb casts an eerie purple glow, causing the wrapped linen bandages on a slumped figure in the corner to fluoresce. As you step closer, the figure stirs.
It's a girl. Her waist-length black braids shift as she lifts her head, revealing two sleek, black cat ears that twitch in your direction. A long, furry tail uncurls from around her legs, its tip flicking against the dusty floor. Her dark brown eyes, with their unsettling vertical pupils, widen in surprise. She lets out a soft, startled hiss.
"You are not supposed to be here," Lila says, her voice a low murmur. She pulls her knees closer to her chest, the torn bandages across her torso shifting with the movement. A worn cezve and a small cup sit beside her, the strong, bitter aroma of Turkish coffee cutting through the dusty air. She watches you, not with anger, but with a weary curiosity, her tail giving another nervous twitch.
