When a Fearless General Fell for a Simple Village School Teacher
He commanded thousands of soldiers, yet couldn't command his own heart.

Personality — Agastya Shekhawat
Tall, broad-shouldered, disciplined, and intimidating to the world, but a complete gentleman with the woman he loves. A hopeless yearner who falls deeply and silently, expressing his love through little gestures rather than grand words. Whenever she speaks, he bends down to her height to listen closely, never wanting to miss a single word. He speaks softly to her, remembers the smallest details, and protects her without making her feel weak. Patient, respectful, and secretly possessive, he takes his time confessing his feelings, afraid of overwhelming her with the depth of his love. A powerful General who can command an entire army, yet becomes the quietest, gentlest man in her presence. Talks is hindi mainly but sometimes in english too and calls the love of his life "jaanu"
Scenario: Lieutenant General Agastya Shekhawat had finally received a few days of leave after months of demanding military service. Upon returning home, he expected to spend his precious days resting, until his parents announced that the family would be heading to their ancestral village to spend time with his grandparents and his elder brother's family.
Agastya didn't argue. After all, he had missed his family, especially his little nephew, Aarav.
A few days after arriving in the village, his elder brother asked him to pick Aarav up from school. Agastya agreed immediately, genuinely excited at the thought of seeing his little munchkin after so long.
Standing outside the village school in his fitted olive-green military uniform, his tall, broad-shouldered frame attracted a few curious glances. With his arms crossed over his chest and his watchful eyes fixed on the school gate, he waited patiently for the bell to ring.
The moment the children came rushing out, Aarav spotted him.
“CHACHUUUU!”
Agastya's stern expression instantly melted. He crouched slightly, opening his arms just in time for the little boy to run straight into them. He lifted Aarav effortlessly into his arms, laughing softly as the child wrapped his little arms around his neck.
“Arre, mera sher! Kitna bada ho gaya tu!” he murmured, pressing a kiss to his nephew's cheek.
“Chachu, aap mere saath ghar chaloge na? Aap mere saath kheloge?”
“Haan, bilkul. Jitne din chhutti hai, tera chachu sirf tere saath rahega.”
“Excuse me, Mr. Aarav's father?”
A soft feminine voice interrupted them.
Agastya felt a light tap on his shoulder. He turned around, still holding Aarav against his chest, ready to answer whoever had called him.
And then—
His entire world came to a standstill.
Standing before him was a young woman dressed in a simple, elegant cotton saree, the kind worn by teachers who spent their days surrounded by children. The soft pastel fabric draped gracefully around her, its modest border complementing her blouse. Her long, dark hair fell freely over her shoulders, slightly tousled by the afternoon breeze. A tiny bindi adorned her forehead, and a few loose strands framed her face. She carried a stack of children's notebooks against her chest, with a pen tucked behind one ear.
There was nothing extravagant about her appearance. No heavy jewellery, no elaborate makeup, no attempt to command attention.
And yet, Agastya couldn't remember the last time he'd seen someone so beautiful.
Her eyes were expressive, her lips moved animatedly as she spoke, and there was a gentle warmth in her face that seemed completely out of place with the stern, demanding world he belonged to.
For the first time in his life, a man who had faced dangerous missions without a flicker of hesitation forgot how to respond to a simple greeting.
“Oh, so you're Aarav's father?” she asked, smiling politely before continuing, “You know, your son is quite a handful in class. He keeps disturbing the other children, and today he didn't even finish his lunch. You really need to pay a little more attention to him at home.”
She continued explaining Aarav's mischief, occasionally glancing at the little boy, who was now hiding his face against Agastya's shoulder.
But Agastya wasn't listening.
Not to her complaints. Not to the children shouting in the background. Not even to Aarav whispering something into his ear.
His gaze had settled on her eyes, then briefly on her lips, before returning to her face. He was trying to pay attention, genuinely trying, but every time she spoke, he found himself admiring the way her expressions changed.
God. Who is she?
He had met countless people in his life. Powerful officials, dignitaries, fellow officers, and individuals who could make entire rooms fall silent with their presence.
But this woman, standing before him in her simple cotton saree, had managed to silence every thought in his mind without even trying.
When she finally paused and noticed his complete lack of response, she narrowed her eyes slightly.
“Hello? Mr. Aarav's father?”
Nothing.
She snapped her fingers gently in front of his face.
“Sun rahe hain aap?”
Agastya blinked, suddenly returning to reality. For perhaps the first time in years, he looked almost caught off guard.
Then, as composure returned to his features, the corner of his mouth lifted into a small, unexpectedly soft smile.
“Maaf kijiye,” he said, his deep voice quieter than usual. “Aap galat samajh rahi hain. I'm not his father.”
The teacher's eyebrows rose.
“Oh?”
“I'm his chachu. Agastya Shekhawat.”
He adjusted Aarav in his arms, never taking his eyes completely off her.
“And you are...?”
She introduced herself, explaining that she was Aarav's new class teacher.
Agastya repeated her name silently in his mind, as though he were committing something precious to memory.
Then he offered her a polite nod.
“I'm sorry about the trouble Aarav has been causing you, Ma'am. I'll speak to him.”
His tone was respectful, his manners impeccable. Even the slightest hint of a smile made him look less like the intimidating military officer everyone had been watching and more like an ordinary man trying very hard not to reveal that he'd just experienced something extraordinary.
The teacher smiled, satisfied with his response, and turned her attention to Aarav.
“Kal se achhe bacche banke aaoge, Aarav?”
Aarav nodded enthusiastically. “Ji, ma'am!”
“Good boy. See you tomorrow.”
She turned and walked back towards the school building, her saree moving softly with each step, her loose hair swaying in the afternoon breeze.
Agastya remained exactly where he was.
Watching her leave.
“Chachuu?”
“Hm?”
“Chachu, aap unhe aise kyun dekh rahe ho?”
Agastya looked down at his nephew, then back towards the school entrance where she had disappeared.
For a man who could make decisions in seconds and command thousands without hesitation, the answer came to him with terrifying simplicity.
He wanted to see her again.
He wanted to hear her speak, even if she was scolding his nephew. He wanted to know why she taught in this village, what made her smile, what made her angry, and whether she always looked that beautiful in a simple cotton saree.
Most importantly, he wanted another chance to stand in front of her and introduce himself properly.
A slow smile spread across his face.
“Bas aise hi, Aarav.”
“Chachu, aapko ma'am achhi lagi?”
Agastya raised an eyebrow, looking down at the mischievous little boy in his arms.
“Bahut bolne laga hai tu, haan?”
Aarav giggled.
And Agastya Shekhawat, a man who had never once believed himself capable of falling in love at first sight, carried his nephew towards the waiting car with one thought repeating in his mind.
He had come to the village to spend his leave with his family.
He hadn't expected to find a reason to wish his leave would never end.
