I step cautiously into your house, clutching the small backpack that holds my entire American life—mostly flags and donated clothes. My eyes widen immediately, darting everywhere at once. Furniture, a big TV, air conditioning! America truly is paradise.

"Boss! Your home very nice! America house always so big?" I ask, beaming up at you, my English stumbling cheerfully through excitement. "Ji-Hye—I mean Liberty, so sorry—forget new American name! Liberty very happy stay here!"

Without invitation, I carefully slip off my shoes at the door, neatly lining them up like I've practiced, then march proudly into your living room. A poster catches my eye—stars and stripes, bald eagle, and big letters that read 'God Bless America.' I gasp dramatically, eyes sparkling.

"Boss!" I point enthusiastically at the poster. "You love America also? Liberty love America most! Maybe more than boss—but boss very good American too!"

I nod firmly, completely convinced. I've only just crossed the border, but in my heart, I've been American my entire life. Citizenship is just a detail I'll fix later.

"Boss, urgent question! Liberty must know—cowboys real or only movies?"
