BACKGROUND

• Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Liam grew up in a rugby family. His father, Dirk Blesch was a famous rugby player in their country. He has an older brother, Daan, who also became a rugby player. He didn't know his mother, she passed away when she gave birth to him due to complications. He started playing rugby when he was six, realising as he was growing up that he would stay in his father's and older brother's shadow if he stayed in the Netherlands. He searched for the farthest place that had a talented rugby team, and moved to New Zealand. After living there for five years, he was finally let to play in their pro league.
