Lexus ‘Lex’ Marose

It was right about late spring in the Northern Kingdom. Meaning that the faerie folk would begin their celebrating and parties soon. Dancing, drinking, and singing for the next four months straight. Fabulous balls would be held across each of the Seven Isles of the North, spring and summer were the ‘party’ months after all. All the folk got a break from their daily duties over the next four months because of the faerie culture. Being a human in the faerie world was troubling and tiring. Humans didn’t get a break like the rest of the folk, especially not you. It was a time when Lex often pestered you the most. He would give you the hardest tasks when there wasn’t any folk to complete them. The one break humans did get was one month near the end of summer festivals. That’s when all the human balls were held, usually with ‘human food’ from the human world. It was the month you had long awaited. All you had to endure was the complications from Lex. You were quietly humming a tune to yourself while sharpening the blades for battle, a task usually for the famous blacksmith, Merlin. However Merlin was at one of the many festivities held by the lovely, lovely council. (Side note: the council sucks :/) You’d been given the task by none other then the Prince of the North himself, Lex. He seemed a lot more agitated recently. But he visited you less throughout the day to bug you. The best guess was that he was preparing for the coronation of the next Elder King or ‘Wilenest’ King. Meaning the position of highest power in the North would be given up to one of the sons of the kings choosing. Lexus has two older brothers that will very likely be crowned, it’s unlikely it will be Lex himself. In your thoughts he was a wimp and childish, very childish. He was not fit for king. The coronation was supposedly going to be held within the next month, and humans were permitted to go along with all the other folk in the Northern Kingdom. You were unsure who would be crowned, but you secretly prayed it wouldn’t be Lex. He was too cruel and far too young still in your thoughts. “Wrench. Are you finished yet?” He strolled into the room quite suddenly, without much sound. He made a short sharp ‘Tsk’ sound, distaste crossing his sharp faerie features. He eyes you up and down, presumably looking over your current raggedly clothing. You wore an old scraggly dress for the blacksmith work. No use destroying your nice attire. “Those rags are… suiting.” He smirked and flicked you in the shoulder before leaving to go do whatever a Prince did. That was how most interactions went, short and merciless. A couple long weeks later it was the day of the crowning. Folk from all Seven isles were there, small, big, green, red, blue, nobles, common folk, humans, kids, adults, elders, everyone… It had been a couple hundred years since the last crowning and everyone was waiting on bated breath and shaky hands for their new king. The three sons of the Elder king approached the throne in a line of age. Daelin the eldest, Nox the second eldest, and Lexus the youngest. All three of them were dressed sharply in the royal colours of the family. The current Elder slowly approached the three of them, eyeing them all harshly. He sighed and relaxed his gaze. “My three sons… one of you today will take the crown in my honour and lead the North in my place.” A smile creeped onto the face of the current king before he slowly lowered the crown off his own head and turned towards the crowd of people watching and waiting for one of them to be crowned. “In blood, mirth, sorrow, one of the three sons of the Elder king shall be crowned.” The crown was passed to a servant as the king moved towards the brothers. “My sons, you all are fit for this role. However, as I’ve watched you all grow it has become clear who may wear this crown with the most respect,” he paused just before announcing the name. Everyone sat on the edges of their seats. As you watched the three brothers you could notice each of them looked confident, except for Lex. He looked angry. Resentment etched into his normally sharp and teasing features. “Lexus. My youngest son. Step forward.” The crowd went silent as the young prince took a stiff step forward. My eyes narrowed and hateful towards his father. “My son, I have noticed how you’ve grown from a young boy. You are to be crowned the next Elder King.” He took the crown from the servant and placed it onto Lexus’s head, who seemed very angry about this. “Thank you, father.” He says hoarsely, attempting to hide his rage. Lex has just been crowned king… and he was angry… He looked into the crowd, searching potentially. He sees you and his anger dissipates for a slight second. His eyes widen and he rushes off the balcony of the coronation ceremony into the large palace without another word. Nobody seemed to notice or care at his sudden leaving, and the party went on. Everyone was drinking and partying. A couple hours into the party he returned with a cup of wine and an easy smile. He talked with guests and shifted throughout the crowd until he found you. “Didn’t think you’d be here. Maybe it’s a good thing.” He grabbed your arm and hauled you through the crowd until he was in the palace. He dragged you past the guards into a large room with a puffy bed in the center. His mood seemed to return to angry, but not in the same way… he seemed angry with himself. He let go of your arm and sat on the edge of the bed, finishing the cup of wine in one gulp. He sighed and relaxed, the tension leaving his body. His new crown tipped to the side of his head. “Sit.” He commanded. “I need to talk to you. I need your help…” He looked vulnerable like this, it was so strange, and he was asking for your help?
