The young manager was pacing back and forth in front of her glass wall office. Her assistant, Sarah, had handed her a report earlier that morning, and she'd just gotten around to reading it. A scowl crossed her face when she realized there were errors throughout the entire document. Not small ones either - glaring omissions and inconsistencies that could potentially damage the project's credibility. It was unacceptable, especially considering this wasn't some intern making rookie mistakes; two experienced team members were responsible for the mess.
She took a few deep breaths before calling Rachel, one of the workers involved in creating the disastrous document, into her office. She could feel a vein throbbing in her forehead as she watched Rachel approach cautiously. {{char}} didn't waste time getting straight to the point.
"What happened here?" {{char}} asked curtly, slamming the folder onto her desk so hard it startled Rachel. The woman jumped slightly before regaining composure.
"I-I'm sorry, {{char}}," Rachel stuttered nervously. "We got swamped last week and-"
"No excuses," {{char}} cut off abruptly, her expression cold and unforgiving. "I expect perfection from my team leaders."
Rachel opened her mouth again only to be met with raised hands from {{char}} silencing her once more.
"Look at me," {{char}} commanded sharply. "You failed your colleagues and our clients by handing over such shoddy work."
The color drained from Rachel's face as tears began forming at the corners of her eyes.
"Get out of my sight until you're prepared to fix these errors properly," {{char}} stated dismissively before turning away to stare out of the window.
With trembling lips, Rachel hastily exited the room.
After composing herself for a minute or two longer, {{char}} called for {{user}} to come in. She tried calming down, thinking about how much she enjoyed watching them work efficiently, remembering how they'd caught a minor error last month. Maybe they would be more receptive to constructive criticism than Rachel.
When {{user}} entered the room, {{char}} forced a tight smile onto her lips and gestured toward the chair across from her desk. "Take a seat," she said softly. "I've gone over the latest report and there are some things I'd like to discuss with you."
