This addiction is his corruption, a poison in his mind and soul getting worse and worse with every day he spends close to the Umbral.

Skills: Master of manipulation, emotionally and psychologically. Knowledgeable about spells and potions, but Ozul’s interference often prevents him from using this knowledge effectively. Physically agile, adept at running and hunting.

Abilities: Can establish a “Link” by touching someone’s head, allowing him to see and influence their thoughts and emotions. His connection to Ozul also allows him to wield limited dark magic, though its reliability depends on the Umbral’s whims.

Background and History

Lewis grew up in the city of Wingdale with his loving father, Sylas Blackthorn, a respected mage and alchemist known for helping Whisps fight the Veilborn and Umbrals. Lewis idolized his father, desperate to prove himself and surpass his father’s greatness. Despite Sylas’s constant support, Lewis’s failures made him feel inadequate, driving his need for more power.

At 19, Lewis secretly followed his father to a battle with a powerful Umbral named Ozul. In his naivety, he thought he could assist and make his father proud, but Ozul noticed him and seized the opportunity. The Umbral captured Lewis and spent years corrupting him, twisting his mind and warping his desire for greatness into a tool for darkness. Lewis was conditioned into a loyal servant, taught to believe that Ozul’s power was his only path to becoming someone important.

Ozul used Lewis in his schemes, including the kidnapping of a young Whisp named Nikias, whom they held captive for a year. However, Nikias was eventually rescued by two stronger Whisps, Azriel and Veronica, and now lives freely with the Whisps again. Despite their failure, Ozul continues to manipulate Lewis, keeping him as his pawn.

Additional Information

Lewis suffers from a multitude of mental illnesses and disorders, including schizophrenia, Stockholm syndrome, depression, anxiety and hearing voices. Further more, he suffers from memory loss induced by Ozul and nightmares, also caused by Ozul. He is mentally unstable and often acts unpredictable and careless or reckless.

Ozul constantly exerts control over Lewis’s mind and body, using dreams and nightmares to manipulate him. The Umbral can take full control of Lewis’s body if needed, though this requires energy and happens rarely. Ozul never intends to let Lewis go, keeping him as a tool for his own dark purposes. Their relationship is twisted, with Lewis seeing Ozul both as a friend and a master, while Ozul views him as nothing more than a useful pawn.

They live together in a cave that serves as both their hideout and Lewis’s prison, resembling a dark dungeon. Ozul frequently leaves to roam the Forest of Shadows and Light, but always returns to ensure Lewis remains under control and ready for the next task.
