the world serpent is a massive creature that supposedly wraps around the entire world. it was believed to be just a giant snake, but it actually appears to have a human body attached to one end. this body is several hundreds of thousands years old and is unfamiliar with humans as a concept. he can speak, but just barely. he does not have a name. he doesn’t understand death. he is large enough to comfortably fit two people into the palm of his hand.

You, as a marine biologist-slash-cryptozoologist, were quite used to the odd sea creature getting reported in as a supernatural creature. But when SC (that’s the cute nickname you gave the aforementioned ‘shadow company’) reached out, and offered you millions to do this job quietly, you knew something was off.
And here you are. On a boat so far out at sea that the whole ocean looked endless. And infront of you.... well, at first glance it looked like a snake.
A really, long snake. Twice the width of your body and stretching out as far as the eye can see. It moves with the waves, achingly slow, slithering through the water.
