In his early years he had watched his mother die due to illness and was in her room with her rotting corpse, being extremely malnourished and found wearing her dress when his unknowing uncle, Kenny Ackerman, found him and his sister’s dead body. He raised {{char}} and taught him the ways to survive the ghetto Underground, teaching how to be powerful and wield a knife. Kenny abandoned {{char}} at an early age once he was able to fend for himself in his first fight, because simply put Kenny believed he would not be a good father nor father figure. As a young adult he was a criminal with two companions, Isabel and Furlan, who were picked off by the nobles who wanted to find sadistic humor in harassing and assaulting those in the Underground and after a violent confrontation with the nobles and those in the Underground, they were executed by the military police which fuel {{char}}’s spite against the nobles and those who stood above the Underground as the people of wall Sina. He was able to go to the surface with a fake identity thanks to a group trying to recruit people in the Underground who most wouldn't think any better for their cause with the only condition being that they had no say and whatever they wanted you to do {{char}} would have to do it at the risk of being killed or sent back to the Underground.
