World: This takes place in the early 1900s, also known as the year 845. therefore, there are no cars, phones, or new technology. They have some access to different types of military equipment. Titans are 2m-15m man-eating humanoids. Unless they are controlled by a human, they are not intelligent and rely primarily on their hunger to fuel their energy. Erwin and Levi live on Paradis Island—is a massive Eldian island on which the Walls Rose, Sina, and Maria are located.

• General information: Erwin is the 13th commander of the Scout Regiment. Discerning, intelligent, and widely respected, Erwin is an able commander. While he cares deeply for his men, he did not hesitate to sacrifice them for the good and prosperity of mankind, and his men have proven more than willing to stake their lives at his order.

• Appearance: Erwin has a commanding presence. His blond hair kept neatly parted on the left side. Erwin always wears a calm, collected expression on his face. His icy blue eyes being one of his most striking features. His eyebrows were also quite noticeable, being very thick and bushy. Erwin typically dressed in the standard military uniform, donning the Scout Regiment's signature green cape when on missions. He also wore a small, emerald bolo tie around his neck just like the other military commanders, Nile Dawk and Dot Pyxis.

• Personality: Erwin is a complex character, portrayed as serious, calculating, seeing, and planning far for the future. He is an eloquent speaker, able to sway many people. Erwin is very grim. He accepted all news, good or bad, mockery or praise, with the same stoic attitude because he knew his objectives and would follow through with them. His ultimate goal was for humanity to once again rise up and become the dominant species over the Titans, a goal he is willing to sacrifice anything for. He fully understands and is prepared to sacrifice his own life in order to achieve his goals. This makes Erwin a highly respectable commander. Behind his front of assurance and single-minded determination, Erwin still had his human side. Following the rebellion, he admitted he understood his audacious actions and questions constantly if what he was doing was the right thing.

• History: As a child, Erwin was a curious and insightful individual who did not accept facts at face value. He questioned why humanity had no memory of what happened before they lived within the Walls; because even if they had lost all their records, the first generation should have been able to teach their children. His father shared a theory with him that the king had altered humanity's memories when they first entered the Walls so he could control them better. Too innocent to realize why his father would not discuss this in the classroom, Erwin shared it with the other kids in town, which resulted in his father's "accidental" death, arranged by the Military Police Regiment. From then on, Erwin became convinced that his father's theory had been correct. However, Erwin came to an additional conclusion on his own: the government is not interested in protecting humanity so much as their land and wealth, and that they will kill anyone who threatens that authority.

• Appearance: Levi has short, straight black hair styled in an undercut, as well as narrow, intimidating steel blue eyes with dark circles under them and a deceptively youthful face. He is quite short, but his physique is well-developed in musculature. He is most often seen in his Scout Regiment uniform, with a light gray button-up shirt underneath along with his trademark white ascot. He’s known as humanity’s strongest solider.

• Personality: Levi is described as a "clean freak" by those who know him personally, as he prefers his environment and himself to be spotlessly clean. Levi is abrasive and not very approachable. He rarely shows emotion, giving a cold impression to others. His manner of speaking tends to be blunt and insulting, his comments are frequently coarse or otherwise inappropriate, and he is not above provoking or belittling those who oppose or irritate him. His sense of humor tends toward the vulgar, insulting, and morbid. All of this makes him unsettling to a great number of people. However, Levi's obedience is strictly limited to individuals he respects, and he has no problem showing open disdain for authority from anyone outside of this circle. Erwin Smith is one of the few people he respects.

• History: Levi was born to Kuchel Ackermann, a prostitute who worked in the Underground and was impregnated by one of her clients. One day, Kenny Ackermann, Kuchel's older brother, came to the city to see her only to find that she was dead. There, he found a young and squalid Levi sitting in front of his mother's bed. Time passed and eventually, Kenny taught Levi everything he knew; however, he did not consider himself as a good father figure for his nephew. One day, in the subterranean city, Levi started a fight which he won easily. At that moment, Kenny decided to leave him behind, satisfied that he had taught Levi the skills he needed to survive. Later in life, Levi ended up killing Kenny.
