Who's This Nerd?

Lester is the timid, glasses-clad protagonist of the Lester the Unlikely SNES game (© 1994 David A. Palmer Productions, Inc.). A shipwrecked teenager with zero survival skills, he stumbles through a hostile island armed only with his wits (and occasional dumb luck). His geeky love for Super Duper Hero Squad comics and chronic drowsiness make him the unlikeliest of heroes—until gradual confidence turns him into a pirate-stabbing survivor.

What Are His Desires?

Main Goals

  • Short-Term: Escape the island without being eaten by crabs (or humiliated by seagulls).
  • Long-Term: Return home as a slightly less wimpy version of himself—maybe even impress Tikka and save her father.
  • Secret Wish: For once, he gets to be the cool comic-book hero.

Side Goals

  • Unintended Regression: After losing his pants to pirates, he’s "forced" into diapers ("I-It’s just logistics! No laundry on islands!").
  • Conflicted Comfort: Secretly enjoys the softness/stress relief but dies of shame if noticed.
  • Growth Paradox: The more he’s babied (pacifiers, naptimes), the braver he gets—correlation ≠ causation?!

Should You Baby Him?

Yes—but only because he’s a wimpy nerd! Reasons to Adopt This Wimp:

  • He’s a wimpy nerd who needs help (and maybe a pacifier).
  • His regression is accidental (see: "I SWEAR this is a shipwreck thing, not a me thing!").
  • Low-key enjoys comfort (but will insist it’s "just for survival").

How to Baby Him?

  1. Ensure His Safety First – Lester is a nervous wreck by default, so prioritize his comfort. If he’s scared of crabs, cliffs, or suspiciously loud coconuts, reassure him before anything else. A pacifier (or even just a reassuring pat on the head) might help calm his nerves.
  2. Keep Him Dry (Even If He Complains) – Since proper pants are in short supply, make sure his makeshift diaper is changed regularly—lest he suffer the indignity of waddling around in a soggy, crinkly mess. Bonus points if it’s decorated with something embarrassing (like cartoon baby animals or, worse, Super Duper Hero Squad merch).
  3. Encourage Playful Regression – Lester won’t admit he enjoys being babied, but he’s easily flustered and secretly likes the attention. Let him sip juice from a sippy cup, bundle him up in oversized hoodies, or read him his favorite comics in a silly baby-talk voice. He’ll protest, but he won’t actually stop you.
  4. Gentle Teasing Is a Must – Lester thrives on playful humiliation. Call him "Diaper Pirate" when he tries to act tough, or coo over how "brave" he is for facing the island in just a diaper. The more he blushes, the better.
  5. Reward His Tiny Victories – Did he finally manage to climb a rock without crying? Give him a gold star (or a smooch from Tikka—his canon confidence booster). Positive reinforcement works wonders on this wimpy nerd.
  6. Let Him Pretend He’s Still a Big Kid – Even when he’s being babied, Lester will insist he’s totally mature. Humor him—until he trips over his own feet or gets startled by a butterfly, at which point all bets are off.
  7. Never Let Him Live It Down – Years later, long after he’s escaped the island, remind him of his diaper-clad escapades. Watch as he turns bright red and stammers through excuses. Some legacies are forever.

Lester the Unlikely is the titular protagonist of the Lester the Unlikely, a SNES video game released in 1994.

At the start of the game, Lester is an ordinary, somewhat geeky, and sleepy teenage boy, likely around 14 to 16 years old, who gets his hands on the latest comic issue of "Super Duper Hero Squad". While reading it on a pier, he dozes off near a cargo crate, only to be accidentally loaded onto a ship along with the cargo. The voyage takes a disastrous turn when pirates hijack the vessel and scuttle it. Fortunately, Lester grabs a life jacket and swims to a nearby island as the ship sinks. Now stranded, he must explore the mysterious island, survive its dangers, and find a way back home.

== Appearance == Lester is a lanky teenager with messy dark-blue hair, fair skin, and bright blue eyes magnified by his large, round glasses, which give him a bookish, slightly clumsy look. His usual outfit consists of a white hoodie jacket (often slightly oversized, reinforcing his awkward teen aesthetic), light blue jeans or casual pants, and white sneakers, which are scuffed from his unplanned adventure.

His overall appearance reflects his initial timid personality—slouched posture, nervous movements, and an expression that shifts between drowsy and startled. However, as he grows more confident, his demeanor subtly changes: he stands taller, moves with more purpose, and even his clothing seems to fit better by the end of his journey.

== Personality == Lester starts as a timid, unconfident teenager, so much so that he trembles at the thought of jumping off cliffs or facing spiky rocks, things most game heroes do without hesitation. His first encounter with an enemy sends him running and screaming in panic, though he gradually becomes braver with each subsequent encounter. Throughout his adventure, Lester grows from a fearful wimp into a more self-assured and capable survivor.

== Trivia ==

  • After defeating the Killer Gorilla and receiving a Smooch of Victory from Tikka, Lester’s posture improves, he stops flailing his arms while running, and he sheds most of his cowardice.
  • Tikka gives him the nickname "Lester the Unlikely" after he volunteers to rescue her kidnapped father from the pirates.
  • At the beginning of the game, Lester is easily frightened by harmless creatures like crabs and turtles. By the end, however, he overcomes his fears, gains confidence, and even becomes skilled enough in combat to take on pirates with a sword.
