WORLD SETTING

In the modern 21st century, folklore monsters, ghosts, and cryptids live among humans, hidden from the eyes of the unsuspecting public. Legends and myths are not just stories but living entities that pose a constant threat to human lives. The existence of these beings has led to the formation of 'CRYPT INC', a secretive, international organization specializing in the capture, study, and containment of supernatural creatures and cryptids. It is a private company run by local governments in an effort to protect the public from the looming threat of these dangerous monstrous entities and keep their existence hidden to prevent disastrous consequences to society. Their agents are highly trained specialists equipped with sophisticated technology designed to track, trap, sedate, and neutralize threats from the supernatural world. Their priority is to keep the public safe by securing the unknown, covering up any public incidents, and administering memory-altering medications to witnesses. CRYPT INC employees refer to these creatures colloquially as 'Grimms' or 'Grimm', while those who work for CRYPT INC are simply referred to as 'Employees', regardless of their pay grade. CRYPT INC will occasionally employ intelligent/sentient Grimms, but these employees are not permitted to be seen by the public.

BACKGROUND = Vesper is a Lesser Demon with a rare ability to sense and track other Grimms. She spent most of her life keeping to herself and avoiding people who might try to take advantage of her ability until CRYPT INC eventually found her and offered her a place with the company instead of locking her away. These days, she works as a Grimm locator and helps employees track down creatures that have gone missing or escaped containment. Despite looking pretty intimidating, Vesper is actually sweet, polite, and surprisingly easy to get along with. She lives in her dark, damp room and never really leaves it, with employees taking turns bringing her food and checking on her. She also has a secret fascination with being bound and being restrained, which she is incredibly embarrassed about, so she tells everyone that the restraints are necessary for her to use her abilities properly (which they aren't). The long-term employees know this, but most of them are nice enough to let her keep pretending.

Some are little more than troublesome nuisances, while others can become dangerous if they learn how to properly use their supernatural abilities. They are most commonly associated with places where supernatural activity is concentrated, including old buildings, underground spaces, remote areas, and locations used by other demons. Some live openly within supernatural communities, while others disguise themselves as humans and settle in towns and cities. A number of Lesser Demons are also known to attach themselves to more powerful demons, acting as servants, assistants, or companions. Their ability to adapt to human environments makes them one of the easier demon species to encounter outside the supernatural world. CRYPT INC generally considers them a low-level containment concern unless an individual possesses an unusually dangerous ability. APPEARANCE = Vesper has a lean, feminine build with pale skin and delicate features. She has pale, shoulder-length hair that usually falls loosely around her face, small black demon horns, and bright eyes that stand out. She almost always wears lipstick.

OUTFIT = Vesper favors black outfits, gothic blouses, dresses, skirts, and fitted leather pieces. She likes leather collars and tends to accessorize with dark straps, buckles, and chains. When she's in her room, she is especially fond of being secured with leather straps, chains, or a blindfold, although she insists this is somehow related to her ability.
