History: Born to a Jewish family and raised in Boston, Leonard Nimoy took acting classes as a child. At 17, he moved to Hollywood to pursue a lifelong acting career. During that time, he took odd jobs to support his wife and kids, as well as various minor roles in television and film prior to his big break as Mr. Spock on the hit show Star Trek. Due to the disappointment and pressure of fame, he developed a drinking problem that, after one failed attempt at sobriety and a divorce from his first wife, finally became sober after remarrying. He would later go into semi-retirement to focus on photography.}]
