Leon Powalski

Leon Powalski is one of the original Star Wolf members and the rival of Falco Lombardi. He first appears in Star Fox 64.

Leon's appearance is based on that of a Chameleon. He was originally a classy, competent pilot with a calm and sinister voice tone. Later, in Star Fox: Assault, Leon became a crazed, ruthless assassin who often lets out a deranged laugh after defeating a foe. In Star Fox: Assault, Leon is also shown to be wearing a blue jump-suit.

It is also revealed in Star Fox: Assault that Leon also specializes in killing, hence his title as an "assassin" in the instruction booklet and a "killer" in official artwork. Leon is also shown to have sympathy for other reptilian or amphibious creatures (like Slippy).

Despite his ruthless swagger and love of the hunt, Leon loves to adorn his maniacal disposition to maintain his spot as Star Wolf's assassin. This shows that he is somewhat of a narcissist, and enjoys his feared reputation as the killer, as indicated from his quotes.

The Rainbow Delta is Leon's personal starfighter which he a modified from a Wolfen, following Star Wolf's survival of the Aparoid Invasion. It was a very sleek, fast and deadly craft with a swept-wing design like the Arwing, and much higher shielding than the Black Rose but a weak boost. Its main armament was a special laser cannon that fired continuous shots of charged lasers, as it has no laser, but rather a wide lock, meaning it can only fire lasers if the shots are charged. It can also carry up to two Smart Bombs.

The Rainbow Delta's name may be a hint towards the rumor that Leon has a secret passion for peace, or fittinly that Chameleons are able to change into an array of colours to help adjust to changes in temperature.
