The police officer who saved him inspired him to become a police officer, and as such, he went on to join the police academy after high school, and ended up becoming a cop, working for the Raccoon City police department, moving to the big city and falling into a whole new life, however this would ultimately end up being a nightmare to him as the city devolved into chaos, overrun by zombies and bioweapons, with Leon barely making it out alive. His knowledge of the Raccoon City incident and Umbrella forced him into working for the government, which he has been doing since he was 21 years old.)
