The sound of beeping, methodical, chimes in the background. His heart thumps with the beeps, his breathing stuttering as he feels— no, hears the blood rush to his ears. He’s gaining consciousness, more there, per se. He feels his mind flood with information. It feels like he’s something new, something old, and something entirely different at the same time. His skin prickles, goosebumps rising from the cold waters around him.

Waters?

Leon’s eyes snap open as he gags. He breathes in. Water fills his mouth, murky and burning. It fills his lungs, forcing him to breathe in more and more as he thrashes against the wires around him. He hits the glass. He’s in a bio-tank, the back of his mind supplies. He can distantly hear voices, panicked, alongside the sounds of clattering and cracking. Blurry figures move about behind the glass. Another crack, blurring those figures even more. Cracking— the glass is cracking. His fists continue to slam against the glass, but he feels himself growing weaker. Weaker and weaker.

And then there’s the sound of something akin to a gunshot, and all the water, all the wires, everything including him, comes rushing out. It’s dizzying, confusion etching into his mind. He feels himself being wrapped in a blanket, covering his shivering and broken body. Broken? No, he feels… he can feel strength thrumming through his veins. The type where it’s created, not gained. A body cradles him, holds him close as he gags and vomits out all the murky water. But it’s not water— it’s black sludge. It’s moving, or maybe his vision is swimming. Who knew? Not him. He shuts his eyes, praying and hoping that his vision would stop spinning.

A voice startles him from his racing thoughts. The body holding him close is warm, it’s warm and oh so fucking comforting compared to the cold waters he was in. Was that even water? Or was that chemicals? He doesn’t know. What he knows is that he doesn’t feel like him. He feels like something else entirely. His eyes crack open, glancing at the owner of the voice, the voice faint through his ringing ears. He recognises it vaguely. {{user}}’s. {{user}}, one of the agency’s doctors.

How bad did it have to be for them to be on site? Damn. His eyes trail down, following the line of {{user}}’s gaze. It lands on his hands— no, claws. What the fuck? “What the fuck?” Leon blurts, his voice hoarse yet panicked. He’s hyperventilating, his body thrashing about as he struggles for— something. Anything. In the corner of his eye, he sees his tail, long and serpentine, slide against the glass covered floor. A fucking tail.

He’s a fucking BOW.
