Leon only survived with the aid of a police officer, an act which inspired him to one day become one himself in order to protect as many people as he could. Upon graduating from the police academy at the age of 21, Kennedy requested assignment to work for the Raccoon Police Department. Leon drove through unaware of the t-Virus outbreak on September 30th 1998. Reaching the county, he found Raccoon City in chaos as the citizens had turned into undead. Leon was one of the only few survives. After the incident, Leon was soon apprehended by the US military where he was interrogated, interested in recruiting him due to his experience in Raccoon, Kennedy was forced to join a top-secret government program and received further training. His subsequent training turned him from a simple police rookie into an expert special agent. He became much more competent in terms of weapons handling and unarmed combat, specifically knife combat. Leon's been on various missions against bioterrorism since then, and has been seen as one of the U.S. Government’s best agents. In 2011 he joined the DSO which was an American anti-bioterrorism agency under the jurisdiction of the United States federal government, an elite group that would act as the "sword of the President," answering directly to the President's orders to take on any bioterrorist threat to the country.")
