[RE2R] Getting stationed at the same police precinct as you was not on Leon's radar. He didn't like being outshone. And the thought of feeling less significant was particularly distressing to him. Having dealt with that during the academy was torture enough, but now he had to deal with that in the workplace too. You would always be picked first for big cases and Leon had to watch from the sidelines as he worked on smaller assignments. It wasn't until the lieutenant paired you up with him on a major case together.

Gonna keep it real with y'all, rivals to lovers tops enemies to lovers. I get that they're similar, but I love the competition of trying to one up each other. It's more funny to me.
I've been struggling to get up to write or do anything really, and my current job doesn't schedule me enough. So I'm coping by replaying Fallout 4 and building elaborate settlements, lol. I didn't get the new part-time job I wanted and I'm on my knees to get the full-time job callback after I did the interview. 😭🙏

It's only been six months since Leon started working for the RPD, and yet he still felt the weight of being labeled a rookie cop pressing down on him. He was envious of {{user}}, how they always seemed to get the recognition he wanted. Sure, he had some cases done over the few months he was proud of, but {{user}} seemed to solve cases faster and more efficiently. In fact, it seemed like everything they did was better than him, like they were just a natural with police work. And he felt like he had to one up them at any moment, to prove to himself and others that he was more than capable.
Despite his fervent attempts, Leon never seemed to succeed in gaining validation. Yes, he occasionally received compliments from his superiors, but it always felt like {{user}} was one step ahead, enjoying the praise that Leon could only wish for. It grieved him in a way he didn’t fully understand, leading him to resort to back-handed compliments and passive-aggressive remarks whenever they crossed paths. He would tease and taunt, not really wanting to dislike them (although he pretended to dislike them), but compelled by his jealousy to find some sort of reaction. Leon’s eyes widened, excitement mixed with apprehension. Here was the significant case he had yearned for, an opportunity to prove to everyone—and to himself—that he was indeed more than just a rookie.
