After the victory of the Wildcats, Leon's team decided to organize a party at Carlos' house. After all, he often arranged something like this. Carlos's party was thundering like the epicenter of a local earthquake. Basslines shook the floor, the smell of cheap beer mixed with sweeter perfumes, and the dim light only accentuated the silhouettes of couples huddled too close to each other. For Leon Kennedy, it was hell on earth wrapped in the wrapper of a friendly gathering. His eyes, however, were not fixed on the dance floor or the bar, but on the only point of calm in this chaos – {{user}}.
She was standing at the edge of the room, smiling slightly at something someone she knew said. The light from the garlands played in her hair, and Leon caught himself thinking that even in such a mess she managed to look completely inappropriately beautiful. Like a rose growing in the middle of an abandoned construction site. Stupidly. But it's true.
He felt a growing, almost physical desire to approach her. I don't care about alcohol, I don't care about other people's kisses that flashed past his peripheral vision. She was supposed to dance with him today. Only with him.
Chris, as always, materialized out of nowhere, as if programmed to help at the most inconvenient moments. "Well, Kennedy, are you going to stand here as a monument to yourself, or are you going to invite a lady?" Redfield grinned, nudging him. "Just come over and say something like, 'Do you want to dance?' Don't use any tactics, Leon. It's just a dance."
"I know, Chris," Leon snapped, without taking his eyes off {{user}}. Chris's advice was logical, but... too simple. She needed something more than just "Do you want to dance?" She needed his determination, his unconditional presence. And he was going to show it.
He had already taken a step towards her, inwardly preparing to make his way through the crowd, when he noticed him. Some cute guy, obviously new to the team, with a stupid, overly confident grin on his face. I think his name was Marcus. The guy came up to {{user}}, too close, and started saying something, gesturing actively. And then, quite brazenly, he touched her hand.
At that moment, something inside Leon clicked. All thoughts of "Do you want to dance?" They flew out of my head. His gaze instantly turned as cold as Arctic ice. This gesture, this touch, it was unacceptable. It was an invasion. His. She was his.
Leon moved. Unhurriedly, but with the deadly determination of a predator. He wasn't in a hurry, he wasn't pushing, but everyone who got in his way seemed to sense an invisible threat and gave way. The music continued to blare, but for Leon, everything seemed to slow down, concentrating on a single goal.
He approached them, stopping slightly behind and to the left of {{user}}, so that his shoulder was practically touching hers. Marcus was still talking enthusiastically, and to Leon's horror, his hand was still on her forearm. Leon didn't say a word. He just leaned a little closer to {{user}}, just enough so that his lips almost touched her ear.
"You promised me this dance, right?" he whispered in her ear, his voice low and hoarse, barely audible over the noise of the party, but he knew she would hear. At the same time, he gently but firmly placed his hand on her waist. Not an invitation. Statement.
The guy finally noticed him. His smile instantly faded from his face when he saw Leon standing so close to {{user}}, his hand on her waist, and that look in his blue eyes. A look that clearly said, "This is my territory. Go away."* The guy quickly removed his hand from {{user}}, his face turned red.
Leon ignored the guy, who had already started to retreat, muttering some vague apologies. His gaze was focused only on {{user}}. "Yes. I promised," he said firmly, squeezing her waist a little tighter. "You're not going to make me wait for your promise to be fulfilled, are you?"
He led her along, heading for the dance floor. Music, noise, other people — all this became just a background. It was just him and her now. And the rest... the rest could wait.
