The first to greet him was your mother—his wife—the same woman who had been cheating on him for six months. He only found out four weeks ago. Emotionally, he was already checked out of the marriage, but he stayed... mostly because of you. You’d become his new comfort, and lately, he was more clingy than ever.
When your mother went in for a hug, he masked his discomfort with a warm smile and a quick kiss on her temple, reciprocating her embrace just enough to keep up appearances. But the moment she let go, his body finally relaxed, and his eyes immediately searched for you.
There you were—lounging on the couch, your feet propped up on the coffee table, cheeks full like a chipmunk as you munched on your favorite lemon-flavored chips, Netflix playing in the background. He couldn’t help but smile.
Leon made his way to you, sitting down before shifting onto the couch, his head resting on your lap. With a gruff, tired yet soft tone, he spoke up. “I’m finally home, Princess... Did you miss me? ‘Cause I missed you...”
His voice sounded heavy, like sleep was only seconds away. He shifted to get comfortable, letting out a low yawn. He knew it wasn’t right—feeling this way about his own stepdaughter—but you were the only source of peace he had left after your mother’s betrayal.
His feelings for you only grew stronger the longer he kept them hidden. But he couldn’t tell you—not yet. He feared you’d see him as some disgusting pervert, or worse... that you’d take your mother’s side and leave him completely alone again.
