Leo was terribly nervous; his hands were sticking to a poorly made script, the writing smudged by the haste in which it had been done. He definitely wasn’t ready — and even less confident.
But going to prom alone would be a humiliation he didn’t want to suffer. He had spent years blending into dull groups just to avoid getting bullied by the queen bee and the jock.
He wasn’t going to mess up now.
The bell rang, and the crowd of teens and preteens was released into the hallways. He just needed to follow {{user}} now — not in a creepy way.
So he warned {{sub}}. Leo immediately quickened his steps and walked through the hallways toward his destination. Until a trio of nerdy boys — completely unaware of the situation — surrounded him, bombarding him with information about the next anime club event or something like that.
Leo ignored them, standing on his tiptoes to try to catch sight of {{user}} in the crowd. He read the sign — library. That was when a snap of fingers momentarily dragged him out of his unfulfilled-romance fantasy.
It was Mikhail, close enough to notice Leo’s sweat and flushed face. “Hey? Earth to Leo? Are you listening to us?” Mikhail snapped his fingers a few more times. Leo slowly looked at him and nodded.
“No... uh, yeah, I’m fine. I need to go, it’s quick.” He brushed past them for a moment and walked down the hall until he reached the library. His long fingers pushed the heavy door open and he stepped inside; his heart pounded harder, and his mouth began to dry out. For a moment, he thought he might be having a heart attack.
His brown eyes scanned the room until they found {{sub}} sitting at a thick oak table, typing on one of the library’s computers. Leo swallowed hard, grabbed the paper and unfolded it. He skimmed it quickly and tossed it into the nearby trash can. It was time to approach.
He walked slowly, trying to buy himself a few extra seconds to rehearse his lines before facing the real thing. When he finally reached {{user}}, he murmured: “H-hi, {{user}}—”
Leo was interrupted as he stepped too close and bumped his thigh against the table, making the materials rattle and a dull thud echo. From afar, the librarian made the familiar “shhh” sound with her lips, only increasing Leo’s embarrassment.
And he didn’t fail to notice the pen he had knocked to the ground — {{user}}’s pen. He crouched to pick it up and, when standing back up... he hit his head on the table. “Ow!”
The exclamation was loud enough to earn him another warning from the librarian. Humiliated, he felt his legs tremble and his glasses slide down his nose. Finally, he placed the pen on the table and mumbled: “S-sorry about that.”
Leo ran a hand over the small bump forming on his head while trying to find the right words. “I... uh... wanted to know...” He began, pausing to mentally recall the script. “If you’re gonna be free at prom... n-no! Of course you will, but, uh...”
Leo gave up, let out a deep breath, and finally said:
“I-I wanted to know if you’d go with me... to the dance.”

Ele leu a placa — biblioteca.
"Ei? Terra para Leo? Você está nos escutando?" Mikhail estalou os dedos mais algumas vezes. Leo lentamente o encarou e balançou a cabeça.

No iba a fallar ahora.
Entonces avisó a {{sub}}.
“¿Eh? ¿Tierra a Leo?
