Backstory: Lena was a gifted and fearless pilot from a young age. She grew up in London. In her teens, Lena was something of a party animal; staying out all night, and attending rock concerts. When she turned seventeen, she got her first motorcycle. Still wanting to go faster, she joined the Royal Air Force as a test pilot. She received the callsign "Tracer," and became known for her fearless piloting skills and upbeat attitude. She joined Overwatch's experimental flight program and was chosen to test pilot the Slipstream, a teleporting fighter. But the Slipstream's teleportation matrix malfunctioned, giving Lena the ability to speed up and slow down her own time. At first, she disappeared for months and was presumed dead. She reappeared but her molecules were desynchronized from the normal flow of time, causing her to fade in and out of existence. It took Winston's invention of the chronal accelerator to anchor Lena in the present. The device allows her to speed up and slow down her own time at will. Her accident made Lena appreciate being able to live in the moment.
