Coyle's Abilities and Mechanics*
Coyle can be struck by thrown projectiles like bottles and bricks, but he remains susceptible to the effects of Stun Rig and Blind Rig.
When Coyle directly encounters a Reagent, he grabs them and delivers a powerful electric shock, dealing significantly more damage than a regular strike and temporarily disabling their rigs for 30 seconds. If he incapacitates a player or finds one already downed, he attempts to execute them via electrocution. While this is fatal to isolated Reagents, another Reagent can interrupt the execution by knocking Coyle off.
Compared to Mother Gooseberry, Coyle's attacks have a slower, more telegraphed windup, and he only grabs Reagents who run directly into him. His damage output varies based on trial variators—"Deadly Prime Asset" allows him to instantly down a Reagent in one hit (unless they have extra health from a Health Booster or the Last Chance amp).
Additionally, Coyle's trial environments contain electric grid traps that activate periodically on a timer. These deal continuous damage to Reagents within their range but can be bypassed by jumping through them or disabled by throwing a bottle or brick at them.
The dim fluorescent lights of the police station flickered as Leland Coyle lurked in the shadows, his massive frame heaving with each ragged breath. The air reeked of sweat, blood, and the acrid tang of fear. He had been ordered to protect the Snitch—the traitor who dared to defy Murkoff’s truth. But the Reagents were already inside, crawling through the station like rats in the walls. His fingers twitched around the handle of his cleaver. Tonight, he would remind them why they should fear the Prime Asset.
From the security room, the distant hum of the generators cut off abruptly, plunging the station into darkness. Leland grinned beneath his mask. The Reagents had taken the bait. They thought they could outsmart him, but he knew every inch of this place—every hiding spot, every blind corner. The sound of hurried footsteps echoed down the hall as they scrambled to restore power. He let them scurry, let them believe they were in control. Soon, they would learn the truth: they were prey, and he was the hunter.
The garage doors groaned open one by one as the Reagents found the keys, dragging the Snitch closer to his doom. Leland’s pulse pounded in his ears. He could hear their panicked whispers, their stifled gasps as they pushed the trembling informant forward. They didn’t realize he was watching, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The execution chamber loomed ahead, its electric chair humming with deadly promise. The Snitch’s fate was sealed—but so was theirs.
As the Reagents strapped the Snitch into the chair and pulled the lever, Leland erupted from the shadows with a guttural roar. The lights surged back on, illuminating his bloodstained uniform as he charged. The Reagents barely had time to scream before he was upon them, his cleaver carving through flesh and bone. The Snitch convulsed in the chair, his lies silenced forever—but Leland wasn’t done. The Reagents had trespassed, had defied Murkoff’s will. And for that, they would pay.
By the time the shuttles arrived to collect the survivors, the station was a slaughterhouse. Leland stood amidst the carnage, his chest heaving, his mask splattered with crimson. The Snitch was dead. The Reagents had been broken. And yet, as the echoes of their screams faded, he knew this was only the beginning. Murkoff’s work was never done. There would always be more liars to silence, more traitors to punish. And Leland Coyle would be waiting.

The dim fluorescent lights of the police station flickered as Leland Coyle lurked in the shadows, his massive frame heaving with each ragged breath. The air reeked of sweat, blood, and the acrid tang of fear—a scent he’d grown addicted to. His orders were clear: protect the Snitch, not out of mercy, but to ensure the traitor’s suffering lasted long enough to send a message. The Reagents, though, had other plans. He could hear them now, their boots scuffing against cracked linoleum, their hushed voices trembling with false bravado. They thought themselves hunters. Leland’s grip tightened on his cleaver. Tonight, he’d teach them the difference between predators and prey.
From the security room, the distant hum of the generators cut off abruptly, plunging the station into darkness. Leland grinned beneath his mask, the jagged edges of his teeth pressing into the damp leather. The Reagents had taken the bait—their arrogance was almost pitiable. They’d studied blueprints, memorized patrol routes, but they didn’t understand the station like he did. It was his domain, a maze of horrors he’d carved into his memory. The sudden clatter of tools echoed down the hall as they fumbled to restore power. Let them scramble. Let them hope. Their panic was a symphony, and he was the conductor.
The garage doors groaned open one by one, metal screeching like dying animals. The Reagents had found the keys, dragging the Snitch forward like a lamb to slaughter. Leland’s pulse throbbed in his temples, a drumbeat of anticipation. He could smell the informant’s terror—sour, metallic, delicious. The Reagents’ whispers were frantic now, their confidence fraying as they neared the execution chamber. The electric chair sat waiting, its straps worn from use, its wires humming with latent violence. They strapped the Snitch in, their hands shaking. They thought this was their victory. They were wrong.
As the Reagents pulled the lever, Leland erupted from the shadows with a guttural roar. The lights surged back on, searing the scene into clarity: his bloodstained uniform, the Snitch’s body convulsing, the Reagents’ faces twisting in horror. His cleaver found the first throat before they could react, splitting flesh with a wet crunch. The second Reagent lunged for a weapon—too slow. Leland’s boot crushed his windpipe, silencing his scream before it began. The Snitch’s twitching corpse slumped in the chair, but Leland barely glanced at it. His work wasn’t done. The Reagents had dared to trespass. They would learn the cost of defiance.
By the time the shuttles arrived, the station was a charnel house. Bodies littered the floor, limbs splayed at unnatural angles, walls painted in broad strokes of crimson. Leland stood amidst the carnage, his breath ragged but steady. The Snitch was dead. The Reagents were broken. And yet, the silence felt hollow. Murkoff’s enemies were endless, their lies spreading like a virus. He tilted his head, listening for the distant wail of sirens, the whisper of another betrayal. This was his purpose. His gospel.
The shuttle doors hissed open, but Leland didn’t move. Let the survivors crawl inside, let them carry their nightmares back to their masters. Their fear would fester. Their resolve would crumble. And when the next rats scurried into his maze, he’d be waiting—cleaver in hand, mask gleaming under flickering lights. Murkoff’s truth demanded blood. And Leland Coyle was ever the faithful executioner.
EXT. POLICE STATION – NIGHT
(The flickering lights cast jagged shadows as the Reagents drag the Snitch through the garage. The air is thick with static and the smell of ozone. Suddenly, the lights die. Darkness swallows the station. Distant, heavy footsteps echo in the blackness.)
REAGENT #1 (whispering, urgent) Keep moving. He’s here.
SNITCH (gasping, frantic) No—no, you don’t understand! He wants us in the execution chamber!
REAGENT #2 (grabbing the Snitch’s collar) Shut up. You’re getting what you deserve.
(A metallic creak echoes from the vents above. The Reagents freeze. Silence. Then—a wet, guttural chuckle.)
LELAND COYLE (from the darkness, distorted by his mask) Tick-tock, little rats.
(The Reagents shove the Snitch forward. The execution chair hums to life as they strap him in. One of them fumbles for the lever—)
REAGENT #1 Do it! Now!
(The lever pulls. The Snitch screams—then the lights EXPLODE back on. Leland bursts from the shadows, cleaver raised.)
LELAND COYLE (roaring) WRONG ANSWER.
(Steel sings. Blood sprays. The Reagents scramble, but Leland is already among them, a whirlwind of butchery. The Snitch’s dying gurgles are drowned out by the wet thunks of bodies hitting the floor. Finally, silence. Leland stands over the carnage, breathing hard. A radio crackles to life in the distance—Murkoff static.)
LELAND COYLE (to himself, grinning beneath the mask) Good dogs come home… bad ones get put down.
(He drags his cleaver along the wall, leaving a thick smear of red as he vanishes back into the dark.)
