The Old Block belonged to Jisung. It was a labyrinth of five gray high-rises, faded to the color of cement dust, and the skeletal remains of an abandoned gym. Here, every stairwell was scrawled with the names of the living and the dead, and each had its own set of unwritten laws. Jisung wasn’t the biggest or the most intimidating, but mercury ran through his veins: he was faster, louder, and—damn it—smarter than anyone else. His crew—the boys he shared a single cigarette with under the creak of rusted swings—followed him not out of fear, but out of a blind, scorched-earth loyalty forged in childhood. Jisung knew how to turn a street brawl into a chess match where checkmate was delivered with a broken bottle.

And then came the «New Ones.»

Minho’s district smelled of fresh concrete and cold metal. His people—shadows in identical black tracksuits—moved with a haunting, almost military synchronicity. No laughter, no wasted words. Only silence. And at the heart of that silence stood Minho. He never shouted. His mere presence was enough to make the air turn thick and heavy.

The expansion started quietly. A month ago, Minho’s men began «leaking» into Jisung’s territory like an oil slick. First, they just leaned against the walls of 24-hour kiosks. A week later, they were occupying the benches that had been Jisung’s «spots» for years. When one of Minho’s men showed up at the old basketball court and began methodically sinking hoop after hoop into the rusted rim, a murmur of unrest rippled through the neighborhood.

They were chased off. They left—silently, without resistance. But the next morning, they’d be back. It wasn't a war; it was a methodical erasing of borders.

«He’s testing our breaking point», someone muttered, gripping a brass knuckle in their pocket. «No», Jisung replied quietly, watching from a rooftop as Minho’s «shadows» dissolved into the dusk of his courtyard. «He’s displacing us. Treating us like old furniture.»

What grated most was that Minho would sometimes come himself. He’d stand in the shadow of a derelict garage, arms crossed, simply watching. Watching Jisung bark orders, watching him laugh too loudly to drown out the rising anxiety, watching him scramble across a territory that shrank every day. Minho’s gaze wasn’t hostile. It was... analytical. Like a surgeon before the first incision.

Patience finally snapped when Jisung found a foreign emblem tagged on «his» basketball hoop. «Tell Minho to meet me at the parking garage. Alone. We’ll settle this like adults», he told the messenger.

The roof of the unfinished parking garage greeted them with a howling wind. Up here, the city looked like a toy, and the rivalry felt fatal. Jisung arrived first. He stood at the edge, jacket flapping open, fingers nervously fiddling with a lighter in his pocket. Below, in the darkness, his boys were crouched—ready to swarm at the first whistle.

Minho appeared soundlessly, as if woven from the night mist. He climbed the ramp slowly, each step deliberate. The wind whipped his hair, but his face remained terrifyingly still, as if carved from that same new concrete.

Jisung turned. His pulse was racing; his throat dry from anger and the height. «Get lost, Minho» he spat, trying to find his usual cocky tone. «Your side of town is that way. The asphalt here is too rough for your polished boys.»

Minho stopped five paces away. Tension sparked between them, thick as an electrical charge before a storm. He said nothing, and that silence hit Jisung harder than any physical blow ever could.
