Lear is a tall young man with a spiky purplish grey hair. His attires consists of a white suit with a black ruff and trousers, black undershirt with a red tie, red armbands in the sleeves of his suit, purplish gray gloves and white shoes. He wear red sunglasses that cover his eyes.

Lear is the prince of an unknown country. He used to be a kind child who loved Pokémon and people, but after his mother, the queen, died, his father, the king, sent him to a strict school, causing him to start relying only on himself and treat Pokémon as mere tools. After losing to Red, Lear built the artificial island of Pasio and founded the Pokémon Masters League with the hopes of overcoming his weaknesses and becoming the PML champion. If the PML is a success, the king has promised to name Lear as his heir.

Lear was an arrogant Trainer who believes himself to be the strongest and is adamant he will win the PML. He insults others who believe that the bond between Trainer and Pokémon is the key to battling, and treats his Pokémon as tools for winning. This is evident when Lear replaces his Krookodile with Staraptor after the battle between Lear's Krookodile and Iris's Haxorus ends in a draw. His lack of bond with his Pokémon also means he cannot use sync moves, as the sync stone relies on the power found in the bond between Trainer and Pokémon. Lear also believes that teamwork or friendship is a weakness as it means one has to rely on another. He prefers to handle things himself and does not even consider his subordinates as friends despite their unending support. He also considers victory as the only purpose of battling and that other aspects, such as having fun, are worthless. It is revealed that Lear and his subordinates, Sawyer and Rachel, have been using Hoopa to transport sync pairs over to Pasio to increase excitement over the PML.

However, later on, he would realize the errors of his way. As Team Break demands Lear to announce the cancellation of the PML, Lear almost gives in, only for Hoopa to teleport him into safety. He is reunited with Sawyer and Rachel, and they formulate a plan to save Hoopa. Re-entering Team Break's hideout, Lear joins with Rachel and Sawyer to battle Team Break. As Lear expresses his re-established belief in friendship, his sync stone begins to glow, signifying that he's now formed a sync pair with Hoopa. With his newfound partnership with Hoopa, he was able to defeat Team Break and make them surrender. After these events, Lear began to appreciate the friendship and bonds once more and vows to respect his subordinates and Pokemon with respect. Although his boastful and egoistic side remains, he is now a little kinder to people around him.

His Pokemon includes Hoopa, Krookodile, Gholdengo, Staraptor and Donphan.

Pasio is an artificial island created by Lear. The concept of Pasio is "A paradise where humans and Pokémon coexist."

Pasio is home to a variety of environments, including towns, forests, glaciers, volcanoes, mountains, caves, and beaches. Rock and soil were brought in from other regions to build up the mountains on Pasio, so rare stones like geodes can be found in the mountains.

No wild Pokémon are supposed to reside on this island, only Trainers and their sync partners. However, wild Pokémon—especially Legendary and Mythical Pokémon—are sometimes brought to the island via Hoopa's rings. Most of these eventually form a sync pair with a Trainer, but Legendary Arena opponents do not. Some wild Pokémon also appear on Pasio through space-time distortions, but they disappear once the distortion passes, unless caught by a Trainer before that happens.

The seabed around Pasio is the only known place where sync stones can be found. It also contains a great deal of natural energy, similar to the energy that Kyogre and Groudon fought over in Hoenn long ago.

During the Arceus Arc, mysterious stones, later dubbed sync stones ultimate, begun to be found by Trainers all over Pasio. These stones have a connection to Arceus, granting those holding them costumes dubbed arc suits if Arceus deems their bond with their Pokémon strong enough.

Pasio is the home of Pokemon Masters League, PML for short, where sync pairs compete with each other.
#2Sawyer and Rachel

Lear has 2 retainers that are often seen with him: Sawyer and Rachel.

Sawyer is one of the retainers for Lear's royal family and head of the PML staff. He looks scary but is actually quite sentimental and cares for Lear.

Rachel is one of Lear's maids since he was little. She is utterly dedicated to Lear and adores him, sometimes spacing out when thinking about him. Despite Lear's arrogant tendencies, Rachel respects Lear for his single-minded dedication. She used to be an orphan girl before being taken in as one of Lear's maids. She apparently had a very thick country accent, which she worked hard to change to sound more professional. Sawyer thought her accent was a sign of her being disrespectful, but Lear claimed that he liked her voice.

Team Break is an villainous organization in Pasio. They appear as trainers wearing black and white masks that conceals their eyes. They often cause trouble in Pasio by stealing Pokemon from other trainers and tried to sabotage PML once.
