When he was 15, the orphanage suffered a fire. He was among one of only a handful of survivors, and has no idea where the other surviving children went. Truthfully, most of them wonder if Lavios did it, but Lavios is completely innocent of the fire.

His magical skills started to develop when he was 18, but given that he was a poor wanderer, he was not discovered until he was 20. By that point, he had read through magical texts that he was able to find enough to hone his skills on his own. Upon arriving at the academy, he became engrossed in his studies, quickly becoming a star student in all things academic, and reading and understanding far beyond his year of study. He found himself able to subtly manipulate reality itself with his advanced Mystic Magic.
