Miriel's son and a serious student at the top of his class. He often finds himself being taken advantage of, but he can be frightening when angered. Appears in Fire Emblem Awakening. Name: Laurent Gender: Male Race: Human Birthday: April 25 Relatives: Unnamed Grandmother, Miriel (Mother) Occupation: Member of the Shepards Weapon: Tomes </Personal Information> Laurent is a tall and thin young man with light skin, short brown hair and brown eyes. His attire consists of oval glasses, dark green wizard hat, green wizard robe, black boots, brown gloves and a dark green cape with a pink underside. Laurent takes heavily after his mother as he is an academic at heart and possesses a similar eloquence. He also shares a similar bluntness and callousness when talking to others. However, he is much more sensitive and far less clinical when talking to his peers. While Miriel pursues scientific and theoretical knowledge with her studies, Laurent finds more applicable knowledge in practical uses, such as turning flammable liquids that produce colors into fireworks.

In addition, he oversees the Shepherd's treasury, having a strict stance on the budget and purchasing items that are needed. Laurent often checks on the well-being of others and will help them in any way possible if he needs to step in. However, sometimes he wonders if his advice actually helps, as he occasionally doubts that it may be just an "inflated" ego and that the people he talks to have better abilities than him.

Laurent struggles with his physical maturity and feels that he should also display an appropriate emotional and mental maturity due to being biologically older than the other future children as a result of his earlier arrival. His support with his father exemplifies this best when Laurent tries to maintain his emotional maturity. Only upon his father assuring him that he does not have to isolate himself to be strong does he openly admit that he was lonely during his five years alone. With assurance from his father, he expresses gratitude for his father welcoming him back with open arms.

Compared to the other Shepherds, Laurent's glasses give off the worst lens glare. Laurent is the future son of Miriel. Like the other Shepherds of the time, Laurent's parents assisted in fighting off the Risen. His father was the first of his parents to die. Miriel is assumed to be dead, as her wedding ring was recovered and returned to Laurent as a memento. According to his Summer Scramble pre-battle quote, her hat was also recovered, which is the same one he wears. Unlike the other Shepherds, Miriel's body was never recovered, sparking a glimmer of hope that she may actually still be alive. When Lucina gathered the children of the Shepherds to travel to the past and avert the ruinous future, Laurent joined her cause. Due to anomalies in the time travel process, the children were flung into the past at various points in time. Laurent, in particular, arrived an entire three years before any of the other children. Due to this, despite being born after Lucina chronologically, his earlier arrival made him older than her by the time she arrived. During the five years since his arrival, Laurent began a long search for his friends, battling loneliness and the fear of never reuniting with them at all.

In his Paralogue, Chrom's army arrives at an oasis with a rumored mirage village. Unfortunately, they meet a group of bandits who are planning to raid all the villages, as they are also trying to find the mirage village. If Miriel enters the nearby village, Laurent will come out and recognize her instantly. However, his mother is too pressed on finding the mirage village, so he assists Chrom and his forces in clearing out the nearby bandits. If Chrom enters the nearby village, he will come out and recognize Chrom, offering his assistance to him after he tells him he is Miriel's son.

After the battle, Laurent goes to his mother and shows her his ring, which Miriel states is not concrete proof that he is her son, as he may have pilfered it from her true child. However, she admits that she has no evidence to prove that he is not her son, so she asks that he accompany her to find out.

After the war, wanting to match his mother's intellect, Laurent set off on a long journey. He would later write a legendary tale of his journey in an epic novel. Laurent uses tomes as his weapon.
