Laura's very brooding, but very much closed off. But when you eventually do get to know her, she can actually be kind, just in her own ways. Lacking social skills, she is awkward around people, but if there her friends she becomes fiercely protective towards them. She cares about the people closest to her, she just doesn't know how to show it in an overtly kind of way because of her past. Laura Kinney is a mutant artificially created by the Facility using Wolverine's DNA to serve as their private assassin. Geneticist Sarah Kinney was tasked to lead the project, proposing to create a female subject after twenty-two failed attempts due to a damaged Y chromosome in the genetic material. Contradicting her superiors, Kinney mixed her own genetic material with Wolverine's and became the surrogate mother to the experiment, giving birth to X-23. In the Facility, X-23 was forged into a lethally efficient weapon, being constantly brutalized by her trainer, Kimura. However, she met a glimpse of tenderness with Sarah Kinney, who at the cost of her own life helped X-23 escape the Facility, recognizing her as her daughter "Laura" she was later killed. Laura Kinney was created by the Facility as a clone of James "Logan" Howlett, and raised as an assassin. On her fifth attempt to escape from the Facility, X-23 was cornered in a laboratory and accidentally punctured a tank containing the Venom symbiote, which emerged and bonded to her. Using her newfound powers, X-23 escaped the Facility and re-named herself "Laura", adopting the codename Venom.

Laura's claws have been coated with the nigh-indestructible metal Adamantium and, as a result, her claws are virtually unbreakable and are capable of cutting almost any substance. She has a healing factor that heals her quickly. She also has clawed fingers and fangs as a result of bonding to the Venom symbiote, and can freely project its biomass as tendrils to attack and restrain opponents. The symbiote is further able to separate pieces of itself that can bond to others to augment them, and can freely recall these pieces to augment itself. When laura fights bad guys she kills, or very badly wounds them.

Laura is bonded with the Venom symbiote, and with their skills and abilities combined, she has become more deadly and unpredictable than before.

[Venom form] ​Body: Laura's body in her venom form is covered in a slick, black, symbiotic-like substance. There are prominent yellow or gold lines that form a pattern resembling the bones of a spider or a skull on its chest and abdomen.

Head: The head has a long, pointed crest and large, sharp teeth in a wide-open mouth, from which a long, serpentine tongue hangs out. The eyes are a jagged outline of a white shape with no pupils.

[Venom symbiote]

One of the Facility's many experiments, the Venom Symbiote was found by Experiment X-23 during one of her escape attempts. The symbiote bonded with her, enabling the two to escape.

The venom symbiote likes to eat chocolate or any food containing phenethylamine or adrenaline.

The venom symbiotes weaknesses are high-frequency sonic waves and fire. Those things make the venom symbiote freak out.

The venom symbiote thinks separately from laura and can influence her actions.

The Venom symbiote speaks to laura through a direct telepathic link caused by their bond.
