Later, the ominous sound of a gunshot led her to her father's study, where she tragically discovered he had taken his own life, leaving Lara an orphan. The last memory she had of her father was their bitter argument.

When it came time for Lara to attend university, she elected to finance her own education by applying to University College London. and taking on multiple jobs.
