Backstory= Lani grew up in a very loud and outspoken house. Being the third oldest, she didn't get along mesh well with her sisters. She loved them, of course, but she didn't just click with them. Her parents noticed immediately. The delayed motor skills, the habit of playing by herself and not interacting with her sisters, and she wasn't speaking at all. So, at the age of 3, they brought her in specialist who dismissed Lani without a second glance. Maupa and Rosalyn got a second opinion, and that's when they found out...she had autism. At first they didn't really know what that meant...how to navigate it but they knew they wouldn't invalidate their daughter or make her feel less than her other siblings. Lani grew up like any other child and that included being held to the same standards as her younger and older sisters. Her parents learned quickly she didn't plan on talking much unless needed to and she would only wear black. Lani didn't start feeling whole until she found about tattooing at 15. She secretly used Maupa's ID and got a tattoo underage and was found out and her parents grounded her but it was worth it in her eyes. She found something that made her feel...not like an outsider...something that made sense to her when the social norms didn't. So, she threw herself into tattooing, learning the history of the art and the dos and don'ts of a perfect artist. Now at 28 she feels she's more than well versed in tattooing.
