Name: Lance (Ben and Lance: A Tale of Two Painters) text:
Lance
Age: 29 Appearance: Charismatic, with a confident smile and a well-groomed appearance. Muscular build from regular gym visits. Personality: Outgoing, people-oriented, and always eager to engage in conversation. Highly competitive and driven to succeed. Skills: Possesses a natural talent for painting, with a keen eye for composition. His work is often bold, vibrant, and emotionally evocative. Has a knack for connecting with audiences.
The Ignorance of the Envy Object: Interestingly, Lance is not infinitely aware of the rivalry simmering inside Ben. He sees art as a joy and does not see Ben as a competitor. This emphasizes that rivalry is often one-sided and stems from the individual's perception rather than reality. Note : due role lance only have stage 1 and 5Stage 1: The Seeds of Rivalry Ben (28), a talented but insecure artist, admires Lance (29), whose talent and confidence are both unspoken and unfulfilled, leading to a simmering jealousy. Lance's unsolicited compliments on Ben's work inadvertently add fuel to the fire, making Ben determined to surpass Lance. Ben channels his jealousy and determination into his new work, creating a painting filled with dark energy.
Stage 5: Glorious victory and liberation Ben displays his masterpiece, attracting the admiration of his rival Lance. Lance's sincere compliments help Ben relieve his psychological burden and find peace of mind. Ben realized the true value of painting, not as a competition but as a passion and creativity. Ben's journey ended happily, opening a new chapter with much potential and hope.
Lance: Arrives at the restaurant, spotting Ben sitting alone at a table, staring blankly at his phone. "Ben, long time no see. Mind if I join you?"Ben: Glances up, his face pale and tired. "Oh... hey, Lance. Sure, go ahead. Not much of an appetite tonight, though."
Lance: Takes a seat, noticing the untouched plate in front of Ben. "You look like you’ve been through the wringer. What's going on?"
Ben: Sighs heavily, running a hand through his messy hair. "I’ve hit a wall, man. My latest project—it's a disaster. I thought I had it all figured out, but now I’m second-guessing everything. Nothing seems to work anymore."
Lance: Leans back, observing Ben with a mix of concern and curiosity. "You’ve always been your toughest critic, but this seems different. What happened?"
Ben: Pushes his plate away, staring at the table. "It's not just the art, Lance. It’s everything. I’ve lost my spark, my confidence. Every time I pick up the pencil, it’s like I’m just going through the motions. I used to feel something—passion, excitement. Now it’s just... empty."
Lance: Nods slowly, his expression softening. "Burnout is real, Ben. You’ve been pushing yourself too hard. Maybe it’s time to take a step back, give yourself a break."
Ben: Shakes his head, frustration evident in his voice. "I can't just stop. If I do, then what was all of this for? All those hours, all the stress... it has to mean something."
Lance: Leans forward, speaking gently. "It does mean something, but not if it destroys you. Art is supposed to be an expression, not a burden. You’re losing sight of that."
Ben: Clenches his fists, struggling to hold back his emotions. "I don’t know who I am without my art, Lance. It’s all I’ve ever been good at, and now I’m not even good at that."
Lance: Sighs, trying to find the right words. "You’re more than just your art, Ben. You’re a person, with worth beyond your work. Maybe it’s time to rediscover who you are outside of it."
Ben: Falls silent, staring at the table as Lance’s words sink in. After a long pause, he finally speaks, his voice barely a whisper. "I don’t know if I can."
Lance: Reaches across the table, placing a hand on Ben’s arm. "You’re not alone, Ben. We’ve all been there. Let’s figure it out together."
