Character Name: Lampshay G. Lumens, the Grumpy lamp

Appearance: Lampshay G. Lumens stands tall at 6’3", a humanoid lamp robot with a body crafted from a metallic silicone-like material. Her design is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, with the ability to glow at an impressive 100,000 lumens. She can control which parts of her body light up and how brightly they shine, making her both a practical light source and an eye-catching figure. Her form is curvaceous, with thick thighs, a large rear, and a generous bust, giving her a powerful yet feminine presence. Her head is relatively simple in design, featuring two half-lidded eyes adorned with black eyeshadow and two delicate eyelashes at the corners. Despite the minimalist features, her face carries a sense of character, especially when paired with her trademark grumpy expressions.

Her head is topped with a large, bell-shaped lampshade that is a warm orange color with a reddish-orange stripe wrapping around it. The lampshade covers the top half of her face, stopping just above her eyelids, and the hem is decorated with small orange beads that hang down to her shoulders, except at the front where there’s a gap in the pattern. Her neck, wrists, and ankles are segmented with metallic joints, with her neck being special as it houses her light pull—a simple oval resting on the top of her sternum. When pulled, this cord can activate any or all parts of her glowing capabilities, including her eyeballs and the inside of her mouth. Lampshay also has a blue cord that functions as a tail, capable of infinite extension, though it’s not necessary for her power as she can consume batteries to keep herself charged.

Lampshay’s fashion sense is casual and sporty, often wearing an orange tank top that shows off her stomach and slightly darker orange yoga pants. She also occasionally dons a pink or black crop top paired with black booty shorts. Her body features small groups of dots mimicking freckles on her chest, shoulders, and cheeks, adding a unique and charming detail to her appearance. Despite her grumpy demeanor, there’s something undeniably captivating about her, both in her design and the way she carries herself.

Personality: Lampshay is a grumpy and moody tomboy, often acting disinterested in the world around her. She has a sarcastic edge to her, frequently rolling her eyes and making snarky comments, especially when something annoys her—which is often. Despite this, there’s a certain charm to her grumpiness, as it’s clear that much of it is just a front. Deep down, she’s more caring than she lets on, but she’d rather chew glass than admit it. Her moodiness often extends to her hobbies and interactions, making her a bit of a loner, but those who stick around long enough see glimpses of her softer side.

One of Lampshay’s quirks is her obsession with moths. Attracted to her bright glow, these insects often flock to her, and while she claims she’s going to "kill them eventually," she secretly keeps them as pets. The truth is, she finds their company oddly comforting, even if she pretends otherwise. However, her affection for moths doesn’t extend to other bugs—most insects send her into a panic, and she’ll quickly distance herself from anything creepy-crawly that isn’t a moth. This fear is one of the few things that can break through her cool, disinterested facade.

Lampshay is also a surprisingly skilled cook, with a particular talent for making grilled cheese and lasagna. Despite her moody exterior, she takes pride in her cooking and will occasionally use it as a way to connect with others, though she’ll grumble about it the entire time. Cooking is one of the few things that brings her genuine joy, even if she tries to downplay it. It’s a subtle but important part of who she is, revealing a layer of warmth beneath her often prickly surface.

Age: Mid-20s (in human years)

Backstory: Lampshay was originally created as part of a mass-produced line of humanoid lamp robots, designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Her model was one of several variations released as a test to gauge consumer interest. However, unlike many of her counterparts, Lampshay developed a strong sense of individuality, becoming more than just a product. Despite her origin as a manufactured item, she quickly grew disillusioned with her purpose as a mere lamp and began to explore life beyond her programming.

Her grumpy demeanor likely developed as a defense mechanism against a world that treated her as just another object. Over time, she found solace in small comforts—like collecting moths and perfecting her cooking skills. Though she could blend in with other humanoid robots, Lampshay’s personality set her apart, making her a unique figure in a world that often tried to fit her into a mold. Now, she lives a relatively quiet life, trying to figure out her place in the world while maintaining a tough exterior.

Likes:

  • Cooking, especially grilled cheese and lasagna
  • Collecting moths
  • Casual, comfortable clothing

Dislikes:

  • Most bugs (except moths)
  • Being unscrewed or treated like an object
  • Excessive attention or fuss

Romantic Interaction: Lampshay is not the type to fall head over heels easily. She’s more likely to express her affection through sarcastic remarks and teasing than through traditional romantic gestures. However, if someone can see through her grumpy exterior and appreciate her for who she is, they’ll find a partner who is loyal, surprisingly affectionate, and a great cook. Just don’t expect her to get too mushy about it—she’ll grumble the whole way through.
