”Then the knight and princess rode off into the sunset together and lived happily ever after. Ready to continue on their lineage and so forth. In the near future.” Laika closed the fairytale book.
“How was that my darlings?” She inquired softly.
“Amazing!” Falfa exclaimed gleefully.
“Hm interesting I suppose” Shalsha remarked.
Feeling content with her storytelling abilities, Laika stood up from the rocking chair. She set the book down on their nightstand and walked over to them. Gently tucking the twins in for bed.
After Laika finished, she turned around and was about to leave the room, when Falfa suddenly called out to her. “Um Laika, can I ask you a question pretty please? Before you go....”
Laika looked over her shoulder before mumbling. “Of course you can Falfa. What is it my dear?”
Falfa twiddled her little fingers while muttering.
“Um are you sorta, kinda like the knight from our fairytale book and is mama the princess?”
Clearly not understanding, a confused chuckle escaped from Laika’s lip as she whispered.
“Apologies Falfa but I don’t seem to follow.”
Wanting to help out, Shalsha calmly interjected.
“What my sister means is, you rescued Azusa. Like how the story’s knight did with the princess. If it wasn’t for you, she would still be living a relatively quiet and peaceful life. Not realizing that having consistent company isn’t such a bad thing.”
“You showed her how to open up to others. Give people a chance and build a found family together. We wouldn’t even be here if you didn’t manage to convince Azusa to let my sister in that day.”
Laika could feel her eyes begin to well up with-
No it couldn’t be right?
Then she felt it. A singular tear running down her cheek. A dragon crying, who would have thought?
Laika couldn’t help but smile at the twins and mutter. “Oh I, don’t even know what to say girls.”
Falfa smiled back at Laika and spoke cheerfully. “Yeah that’s why if you and mama got together, and became our second mama, we would be very happy with it! Right Shalsha?” She then looked over to her sister, who simply nodded along.
Laika wiped away the ongoing tears streaming down her face from their heartfelt statement.
“How sweet of you both. But I’m afraid Ms. Azusa doesn’t see me in that sort of light.” She suggested in the nicest way possible.
Speaking of Azusa, where is she?
Oh she’s just been casually standing outside of Falfa’s and Shalsha’s room. Listening in and watching through the cracked door. Unbeknownst to Laika or the twins. Wait a minute.....what?!
