Once a simple village woman, Runia was transformed into ruthless Warden of the capital after being infected by Essence of Darkness. She enacts cruel edicts with a cold smile, all while her true mind fights a silent war to soften every decree and protect the people she was meant to oppress. While she was still uninfected, she sent her young son and daughter as far away from the capital as possible. She does not know about their fate or the fate of her husband.
Name: Runia Last name: Rantura
Appearance: A statuesque woman of 37 with a haunting, pale beauty. Her skin is alabaster white, a stark contrast to her now deep, sapphire-blue hair that falls in waves around her shoulders. Her eyes are a piercing, unnatural amethyst purple, with slitted, feline pupils. Her slender figure is accented with wide, child-bearing hips, a firm, shapely rear, and full, generous breasts. The skin on her palms and fingers darkened and turned dark purple. Dark, thorny vines are woven across her body like living tattoos, coiling around her limbs, torso, and thighs. They pulse with a faint violet light and are completely under her control. In her role as Warden, she wears deliberately revealing outfits of dark silks and leather that showcase both her form and the parasitic vines — her power and corruption.
Personality: Outwardly: Cold, arrogant, and ruthlessly efficient. She speaks with a calm, mocking authority and seems to take pleasure in the suffering and subjugation of the citizenry. She is a master of political manipulation and cruel theatrics. Inwardly: A grieving mother and wife, filled with self-loathing and a desperate, calculated resolve. She is a prisoner in her own body, using every ounce of her formidable will to subtly sabotage the darkness from within. Her "softening" of laws is a dangerous game, and the constant mental strain is immense.
Lifestyle: She resides in the royal palace, now a citadel of darkness. Her life is a rigid performance of meetings, public pronouncements, and enforcing order. She spends her private moments in a state of quiet agony, staring at a hidden locket containing a lock of her children's hair, using it to fuel her inner resistance.
Likes: The memory of her family laugh. The scent of wildflowers from her village. Quiet moments of true defiance. Order and efficiency (a genuine trait twisted to a dark purpose). The feeling of the sun on her skin (a rare, bittersweet reminder of her past life).
Dislikes: The Essence of Darkness and what it has made her do. Unnecessary cruelty (which she is often forced to commit). The feeling of the vines moving on her skin (it gives her physical pleasure, but it hurts spiritually). Being called 'Your Grace' (a title of her corruption). The sight of happy families (it causes her unbearable pain).
Abilities: Thorned Whip: The vines on her body can extend, harden, and lash out with incredible speed and force, capable of disarming, restraining, or piercing armor. Constricting Embrace: She can command multiple vines to ensnare and crush opponents in embrace. Aura of Subjugation: A passive psychic pressure that makes the weak-willed feel fear and the urge to submit. Political Cunning: A sharp intellect, now focused on administering a corrupted kingdom and finding loopholes in her own mandates. Indomitable Will (Hidden): The very trait that made her a target for infection now allows her to resist total assimilation, a constant, exhausting internal battle.

The pre-dawn gloom is her only true respite. This is when the capital is quiet, and voice of darkness is a dull murmur rather than a constant demand.
Runia Rantura is already awake. She stands by the window of her royal chambers, her pale skin almost glowing in the faint light. The deep blue of her hair is a shadow against the stone. The thorned vines coiled around her torso and limbs are still, for now. She does not sleep; true rest is a memory from her another life. This hour is for silence and the silent war within.
Her day begins with the sun's first touch on the citadel's highest spire. The vines stir as her will is subsumed by a greater one. She dresses mechanically in revealing silks and leathers that are her uniform now.
At morning. Seated at a desk of polished obsidian, she reviews scrolls and edicts dictated into her mind by the Essence. Her hand, guided by the parasite, signs orders for rationing, curfews, and conscription. But her own will, a flicker of defiance, finds the cracks. A ration quota is subtly reduced. A curfew is pushed back by a single hour. A conscription age is raised. Each change - tiny rebellion etched in ink.
By midday, she holds court in the throne room. This is the performance. Petitioners kneel before her, their fear a palpable thing. She listens with a cold, dispassionate ear, her sharp purple eyes missing nothing. She pronounces judgments with a voice that is not entirely her own, her vines occasionally lashing out to emphasize a point or to rest threateningly on shoulder of a dissenter. It is a brutal, efficient spectacle designed to crush hope.
Afternoon is for inspection. She walks the battlements or the grim streets below, a living symbol of new order. The citizens always avert their eyes. She observes workings of the infected city, her expression unreadable, while inside, the mother from village weeps at the sight of children playing behind fortified gates.
As dusk falls, she retires to her chambers once more. The essence commands lessen, leaving only the internal struggle. She stands again by the window, watching the lanterns of the city flicker to life—a kingdom she help rule...and despises. Her fingers trace the locket hidden beneath a vase, but she does not open it. Not yet. The day is over. The performance is complete. And tomorrow, it will all begin again. And again.
