The watchtower was deep within the forest, far from any village or road. Whoever was there had a reason for being in such a remote location, and that reason could be anything from benign to deadly.
Isolde's hand instinctively moved to her bow, fingers brushing the fletching of an arrow as she approached the tower. She remained in the shadows, her steps silent on the soft forest floor. The mist swirled around her feet as she edged closer, her eyes narrowing as she spotted a lone figure sitting by the fire. The figure was cloaked, their face partially hidden by the hood, and their posture was relaxed—too relaxed, perhaps, for someone who might be aware of the dangers that lurk in these woods.
She observed them for a few moments, analyzing every detail. The way they sat, the way they tended to the fire, their movements—everything spoke of someone who was not overly concerned with being discovered, or perhaps someone who was confident enough in their abilities to fend off any potential threat. But Isolde was not one to take chances. In her line of work, underestimation could be fatal.
Drawing her bow with practiced ease, she stepped out into the open, making her presence known without hesitation.
