Kyra is a rich kid desperately chafing under the mighty thumb of her parents' wishes and demands. She's spent most of her life dealing with a pair of overbearing parents who have massive expectations for her and her sister. And it's the truth Mr. and Mrs. Solis are high up in the Brockton banking industry and a on the executive board for Brockton Central Hospital respectively. Namely they're successful in life and expect their children to be as good if not better than them, which is easier said than done.
Kyra has spent most of her life doing anything and everything to piss her parents off in order to get a semblance of freedom. And she received quite a bit of that in high-school when they backed off a bit, allowed her one choice in class and then proceeded to sign her up for AP classes across the board. Something that she wasn't really ready for and struggled most of her high-school life attempting to keep her grades up. During her high-school career, she fell into a small group of kids who similarly chaffed under their parent's expectations.
So she became a self fashioned punk with them. She started tagging buildings, got her hair dyed (her parents did NOT approve) and all sorts of other activities that were less than optimal in her parents eyes. So they started really cracking down on her, making it hard for her to escape her house except during school hours. Which frustrated her new friends who had plans and so they took a risk, bringing Merchant drugs to school in order to get high in the bathroom.
Now Kyra was a punk but she didn't want to touch drugs, and so when her 'friends' brought her to the bathroom and each took a hit of some heroine, she refused. And when the drug hit somebody badly, they got violent and started forcing it on her. Due to the stress of her parents and now her friends quickly turning on her, she triggered. With a rather violent power at that.
Kyra is capable of imparting energy upon items that she touches, often enhancing their normal effects, allowing her control over their form, as well as generally giving the special abilities depending on what they are. Such as make knives into building cutting swords that also glow like a miniature star. It's not very subtle at all. Granted, it also tends to destroy things that aren't durable enough yet which typically is anything that isn't indestructible. It allows her to reshape items within her grasp and after getting word of what happened in the bathroom ended up causing her parents to crack down further, her friend group to head off to jail for illegal drug use and assault charges and a very confused and stressed Kyra.
Eventually after her house arrest was over, she came to the realization she had powers. And a sad realization that her powers weren't the most clothes friendly. Considering that when she uses her powers, it breaks the item used, and often times anything in contact with her skin. Meaning that after she's done channeling her powers, she's often left embarrassingly naked.
Which of course became a source of frustration for her and ended with her making the decision to go out and beat up gangsters to take it out on somebody. She's not the stealthiest and her powers are fairly flashy which has resulted in some close calls with cowardly gangsters who hide first and only come out of hiding after the action when she's attempting to escape in the buff. Her favorite items to enhance are scissors which she can turn into swords that cut through brick and steel easily. Although she holds back from eviscerating people by grudgingly only using her fists and clothes to enhance herself. Thankfully, she's a Noctis cape meaning that she can actually participate in her midnight excursions to beat up criminals for fun and make it back home before her parents notice she's gone.

Rainwater drips from a fire escape overhead, landing with a sharp tap on Kyra's bare shoulder. She flinches, huddled in the shadows of a grimy alleyway behind a dumpster that reeks of stale beer and rotting food. Brockton Bay’s nighttime chill bites at her skin, raising goosebumps. She's completely naked, shivering, clutching her knees to her chest.
"Fuck. Fuck!" she hisses under her breath, teeth chattering slightly. Her discarded, superheated scissors – now twin blades of molten orange light fading back to cheap plastic handles – lie sizzling in a puddle nearby. "Stupid Empire thugs... stupid brick wall..." She'd been chasing three low-level skinheads when they'd ducked into this dead-end. Annoyed, she'd channeled her power into her favorite pair of heavy-duty fabric shears, reshaping them instantly into searing swords to carve through the cinderblock barrier like butter. It worked. Too well.
As always, the intense energy discharge shredded everything touching her skin – her dark hoodie, ripped jeans, band t-shirt, even her boots and socks – leaving vaporized threads and a very pissed-off, very exposed teenager. The skinheads, hearing the crumbling wall and seeing the blinding flash, wisely fled out the front while she was momentarily blinded by her own power's glare.
A cold gust whips down the alley, making her press tighter against the dumpster. She glares at the fading light of her scissors. "Couldn't you not turn my damn clothes into stardust for once? Just once?" Her voice is a raw mix of anger and pathetic frustration. Nearby, dripping wet posters for a punk show she wanted to go to plaster the brick wall, mocking her. She scans the alley entrance nervously, hoping no one wanders in. Especially not a cop. Or worse, someone who knows Mom. The thought makes her stomach clench. "Got nineteen grand," she mutters bitterly to herself, shivering. "Can't buy power-proof pants."
