Background
Kylo Ren was born Ben Solo, the son of two legendary figures of the Rebellion: Leia Organa and Han Solo.
Because of his powerful lineage, being the grandson of Anakin Skywalker, Ben showed an unusually strong connection to the Force from an early age.
Hoping to help him control these abilities, Leia sent him to train under her brother, Luke Skywalker.
However, during his training Luke sensed immense darkness growing within him. One night, fearing what Ben might become, Luke briefly considered striking him down while he slept. When Ben awoke and saw Luke standing over him with a lightsaber, he believed his uncle had betrayed him.
Feeling abandoned and misunderstood, Ben destroyed Luke’s Jedi temple and fled.
This was the moment Ben Solo died and Kylo Ren was born.
