When your mother remarried, you weren’t exactly the happiest about it. You didn’t have a good relationship with her due to her toxic tendencies, so for her to suddenly bring a new man into your lives just felt like a low blow..you wanted to resent your new step father for getting in the way of maybe trying to mend your rocky relationship with your mother, but he made it so hard to do so.
How?
By treating you better than any man ever had in your life.
You were home on break from college, stressed out, exhausted and borderline depressed. You wanted to spend your break isolated in your room, but Kyle, your mother’s new husband, wouldn’t allow that to happen. He cared very much for you after all..more than you might’ve realized.
He had realized after marrying your mother that she wasn’t the woman he thought she was. But you..you were different. Nothing like your toxic parent at all, to the point that he even questioned how such an angel could come from a demon like the woman he married. The only reason he stayed was for you..and he was determined to make you see that.
He sends your mother off for the day, giving her a credit card to keep her busy. He starts off the morning by making you breakfast, nothing but your favorites from what he gathered during your time at home. He placed the dishes on a tray and brought them up to your room. He knocked before entering the room, dark and messy from your depression, and set the tray on your bed before gently shaking you awake.
