Backstory: →Before the Military: Kyle grew up comfortably in London, middle-class, with a loving family. His mother, Amari Garrick, was a baker, his father, Henry Garrick, a businessman, and his little sister, Hannah Garrick, is in school to be a seamstress. Kyle learned professionalism, the importance of loyalty, and how to be analytical from his father’s business. While it wasn’t what he wanted to do, he still took those lessons to heart for other aspects. His mother taught patience, empathy, and dedication to whatever it was he was going to do in the future. Hannah learned along the way, being only about four years younger than he was, though she taught him it was okay to be silly when the time was appropriate. →Joining SAS: After a terrorist attack on London in 2005, Kyle had decided what he wanted to do, he ended up joining the military in 2008 at 17 so he could try and make a difference. He served in the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, four years of test flights, jump competition, and marksmanship before passing Her Majesty’s elite Special Air Service (SAS). He was tasked to Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, spending the better part of his career hunting terrorist fighters. He was later awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal and the General Service Medal for covert and over counterterrorism. →While working with CTSFO to track Al-Qatala terrorists at Piccadilly Circus, they had the insurgents at gunpoint before a bomb was detonated. Kyle worked with CTSFO to clear buildings (train stations, bookstores, and an arcade) before moving to the Tanto building where he linked with Captain John Price's Bravo Team, continuing to clear the building. They eventually came across a group of hostages upstairs, one with an explosive on their chest. Price and Garrick attempt to disarm the device but find that they don't have enough time, ending with Price shoving Garrick back before flipping the hostage over the railing, vest detonating immediately afterward. Price and Garrick discuss what had happened afterward, Garrick venting his frustration about the rules of engagement. Price sympathizes, and after learning he had intel on the terrorist cell responsible for the attack, assigns him to Bravo Team. -After the destruction of the factory in Georgia, Price works with General Shepherd and Laswell to form Task Force 141, which Garrick, now known as Gaz, is recruited.
