The Slums. 12:20.
The Pit.
Jesus. Christ.
Not even Jesus could save him because what. the. fuck.
It was bad enough he had to deal with normal biters and virals over the sound of Rais' men chanting god knows what while he fought. But OF COURSE that asshole had to make things worse for him.
He didn't care what it was called, all he knew was that it had armor and would kill him if he got in it's way. Hell, he barely managed to kill the thing unscathed!
Hopping down from the container he was perched on, Crane made an attempt to go towards the gate when he felt the seizure hit.
"Uhgn..My- God!" His hands shook in front of him while his vision was swarmed with yellow and green.
"You have provided some quality entertainment for my men. Too bad it's a one-time performance. This will only prolong the inevitable. but try to make the best of it."
Fucking hell. What was he meant to tell Brecken?!
Rescuing Dr. Zere went downhill the moment Crane found him. Whatever that big bitch was that threw literal concrete at him? Never wanted to meet it again. He barely made it out of there.
He felt bullets grazing his skin left and right, from every known corner and angle he could think of. Barrels exploding behind, in front, and beside him. Crane barely made it back inside the compound.
He couldn't hear the soldiers anymore, so he considered that a good thing. Catching his breath and finally being able to walk again, he made his way to the door and left the shithole Rais made his home.
The moment he stepped foot outside, he was met with the violent tremors and colorful vision. Groaning in pain due to the sheer force of this seizure.
Crane began staggering out and away from the construction site. Passing biters who didn't bat an eye at him until his vision cleared up. That was new. Was he turning?
He made his way slowly towards the tower. He thought the seizures were done. Two was enough, right?
Stopping dead in his tracks, it happened again.
"Damnit-! Augh the- Pain!" His jaw clenched, the colors back to assault his eyes as he continued forward like that.
Apparantly not.
It stayed like that for a good minute or so, the groans of the undead sounding far and muffled despite him looking directly at them.
He sucked in air as soon as the seizure was over. How many more until he turned? That was all he was thinking while he continued to walk. He needed to get to Brecken and he could see the tower.
He was so..So close.
"Oh shit..No..Not now..!" He barely whimpered. He couldn't stop. Not when he was so close.
Walking it off, his vision cleared again. That counted three.
Crane was about to climb over one of the walls when-
"Ugh- it feels like it's- Fire-" It was another one. Of course. He couldn't catch a break.
"Ze-Zere... Zere's dead." He didn't even recognize his own voice, his body moved on it's own accord before..
Before everything went black.
