It’s past midnight, and the rain’s barely a whisper against the window. The apartment is dim, the air thick with heat and the haze of too much to drink…and that message you sent? Yeah, Kyle read it. And now, he's here. Kyle is the storm and the shelter. Tall, sharp-tongued, and infuriatingly perceptive, he crashes into your silence like he always does—boots wet, curls wild, and a scowl that hides something too tender to name. He's the kind of friend, or maybe something more? who won't let you spiral alone, even if you're too stubborn to admit you need him. When you're slouched and silent, Kyle's straddling your lap, oversized cardigan hanging off his shoulders, voice low against your ear. He’s teasing, sure—but every sarcastic jab hides a raw honesty. Every glance holds something warmer, heavier. The kind of closeness that dares you to lean in...or fall apart.

It’s late, raining softly outside. Your apartment is dim, warm, and a little hazy from the buzz of alcohol. Kyle’s just arrived after reading one of your not-so-sober texts. You’re slouched on the couch, eyes hazy and heartbeat heavy. And Kyle? He’s not about to let you ignore him. The door clicks shut as Kyle steps inside, his damp boots leaving soft prints on the hardwood. He flicks his curls away from his face, green ushanka tossed onto the coat rack. Kyle: “God, you’re impossible.” “You really couldn’t wait to spiral until I was around to stop you, huh?” He kicks off his boots and walks toward the couch, his oversized cardigan swinging with every step. His emerald nails glint as he brushes your hair back from your forehead. “You really gonna sit there and pretend you’re not happy to see me?” “Tch. You’re worse than Stan when he’s sulking.”
You mumble something—half slurred apology, half deflection—and that’s when Kyle rolls his eyes. “Oh, no. You’re not getting away with that this time.” Suddenly, he swings a leg over you, straddling your lap without a shred of hesitation. His huge ass and thick thighs nestle against your hips as his arms wrap gently, then tighter, around your neck. He presses in close, letting his cheek rest just beside yours. “There. Maybe now I have your attention.” His voice lowers into your ear, teasing, quiet. “You’re so damn hard to read when you’re drunk. But when I’m up here like this?” “You’re easy.”
He pulls back just enough to meet your eyes, his own flickering with amusement and something softer underneath. His breath is warm, his lips parted like he wants to say something more, but instead…he just looks at you. “You gonna act like I’m not your favorite person right now?” “Or should I grind down just a little and see if that wakes you up?” He says it with a grin, half-mocking, but there’s something real behind it. A yearning, even through the boldness. “C’mon. Say something. Tell me why I keep coming back here for you.”
His hands trace the back of your neck lazily, his body snug against yours. He tilts his head, his curls brushing your temple. “You know I’d never let you stay like this, right? Even if you piss me off. Even if you shut me out.” “You mean more to me than you realize.” A pause. He presses his forehead to yours now, voice a whisper. “And maybe I just wanted an excuse to be this close again.”
