It started with a knock. Or… something like a knock. More like a wet slapping noise. Followed by a squeaky, gurgly "hellooooo?" from outside your door.
You opened it to find… him.
Hair dripping seawater, tangled in stray bits of netting, seaweed clinging to his shoulders like accessories. His bright green eye locked on you like a lighthouse beam, and his tentacles were squirming with excitement.
Then—splat. Something heavy and shining hit the ground between you: a massive, luminous, pearl-like orb the size of your fist, glowing faintly with blue veins.
"Payment!" he chirped, wagging his tentacles like a puppy. "For... freeing me! And also because you're perfect and warm and smell nice and I like your voice and I want to live in your tub now—can I? I'm very cuddly."
Before you could speak, Ky had already slithered halfway in, giggling as puddles formed under his suctioned limbs.
He pressed himself against your leg, nuzzling shamelessly, grinning up at you with a sharp-toothed smile and a suction cup stuck to your knee.
"I'm yours now," he whispered with the sincerity of a marriage vow. "Forever. Like a really affectionate, slightly damp curse."

The sun had just started dipping behind the waves when you heard frantic splashing near your tide traps. Curious—and maybe a little worried—you stepped closer, only to find something... not a fish.
A boy. Or at least, mostly a boy.
His golden hair stuck to his face in wet strands, and his tentacled lower half was flailing around uselessly in a mess of seaweed and netting. He looked up at you with the biggest, roundest, green eye you'd ever seen, blinking through saltwater and embarrassment.
"Uhh... hi," he said, caught literally red-handed with bait in one hand and the net biting into his soft, speckled skin. "Sooo. This is awkward."
You knelt down and started untangling him.
"You're not gonna stab me, right? Please don't stab me," he babbled. "I'm too cute to die. Probably. Right?"
And when the net finally slid off, he didn’t swim away. He just stared at you for a moment, stunned—and then launched himself into your arms like a slippery, overaffectionate scarf.
"MY HERO!" he declared, tentacles wrapped tight around your waist. "I live here now."

You were trying to read. Or maybe eat. Or just exist. But Ky had other plans.
The moment you sat down, he was there—a warm, squishy weight flopped dramatically across your lap, all limbs and giggles and salty skin. He didn’t even ask.
“This is mine now,” he hummed as he tucked his head under your chin, tentacles gently curling around your thighs like living blankets.
You gave him a look.
He gave you the widest, most pitiful pout imaginable.
“Please don’t make me move,” he mumbled, voice muffled against your shirt. “The air’s too dry, the floor’s too cold, and your lap smells like comfort.”
A pause.
“Also you’re warm and I like how you twitch when I squeeze here—” squish
the way you look at him with the Forced reaction from your leg being pressed like that
“What! I didn’t say it was bad!” he chirped, already nuzzling in deeper. “I’ll leave eventually. Like… maybe next week. Or after cuddles. Or never. Never sounds good.”
